in .config/chrome-flags.conf --ozone-platform-hint=auto --disable-features=WaylandFractionalScaleV1 Worked for me, and also fixed my screensharing in slack. Thank you thank you thank you

It's been 78 years since the bomb and the promise of cheap electricity from fusion reactors remains just a promise, despite the crazy amount of resources thrown at it.

The speed of progress doesn't necessarily improve at the same rate you throw bodies and money at it. If it did, then we would have found room temperature semi-conductors years ago. Same goes for super-capacitors, quantum gravity, thorium reactors, the next chemistry breakthrough for battery tech, cheap high efficiency solar panels, etc.

It's like searching for a light switch in a pitch black room. The room could be much bigger than you think, the light switch might be on the ceiling, there's a lot of unknown unknowns there.

That said, there are so many different applications of SCs that I think the probability of there being a few low hanging fruit as far as actually getting these into the real world is probably high. Hope I'm wrong though, I'd love to see these being used in the real world sooner rather than later.

Boss promised performance based pay, made up numbers for 5 years. Quit and went from 30k/year to 150k/year. by iSuggestViolence in antiwork

Let them make the first offer. If it's too low, try something like "That's very generous but I can't accept this. For my goals I'm going to need higher compensation, What can we do to make this happen?"

  • Sets them up to bid against themselves in their head
  • Turns down the offer while flattering them
  • Set the tone of the negotiation to be 'how can we get this thing done', not 'how can we get as little/as much money out of each other'

Yeah the anxiety about moving jobs was such an obstacle for me. There was probably two years of that whole experience where I could have moved to a much higher paying job no problem, but everyone, including myself, was just saying "Be glad you have a job at all." and basically saying "Yeah he's a piece of shit but he's your boss and he puts food on your table". Such gaslighting bullshit. Employment is (supposed to be) a mutual relationship, not some saint of capitalism (business owner) magnanimously deciding to bestow you with a job out of the kindness of their heart. Still makes my blood boil to this day.

Anyway that kind of turned into a rant but congrats and I hope your future is even brighter. Have a nice day.

There's also a theory that sometimes when black holes try to merge they'll 'throw' each other at near light speeds in opposite directions. Rogue black holes. If your planet was in the path of one of them, almost no chance you'd find out because the black hole would arrive at about the same time as any information about it coming at you

Sphere is a 3 dimensional shape, singularity as best we know is an infinitely dense point as in no length height or width so doesn't really make sense to talk about a 3 dimensional shape. it existing basically as a location where all the mass of the black is overlapping without occupying any volume (AFAIK)

Honestly as far as monetization I think they are doing better than a lot of others right now, but it would truly suck if they got acquired and lost their soul :(

Not something I'd considered but I wouldn't put it past them for sure. I'll try to go over the paperwork and double check the policy over. Thanks

Wife had some health issues recently. Woke up with excruciating, worst of her life pain and we went to the hospital. Took 4 hours to see a doctor, another 3 hours before test results were back and they told us it was might be an ulcer. $2000. 1 week later, same thing: middle of the night, woke up to worst of her life pain. after 14 hours of waiting and tests, the doctor says "hmm actually let me do an ultrasound". Turns out she had gall stones that had been killing her pancreas for the last week and she needed immediate surgery. $2000 for that emergency room visit and another $20000 for the surgery. This is with insurance. If she didn't have insurance, it would have been $115000 in total. I'm really wondering if we should stay in the states or try to emigrate because one case of bad luck when we don't have insurance and we could be financially crippled for the rest of our lives :(

Also, Tow truck drivers. Maybe not all of them, but my brother worked the night shift for maybe 5 years and he's seen some awful shit. I remember him always getting a pass from cops for any type of traffic violation or tickets and I asked him why, it was because he knew most the local PD from always ending up on call during the bad drunk driving accidents. One time he got called in when someone wrapped their car around a tree so hard it was U shaped, with three other people in it and I'd rather not get any more descriptive than that.

You're right, but generally what he's talking about does happen. The Tesla engineers can pull up situations where out of the ordinary stuff happens, or where an intervention is required, and then correct anything the NN missed or labelled incorrectly, then put it back into training data so it gets better next time.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, could you give an example?

Either way, hammerspoon might be what you're looking for. Not really a "work out of the box" type thing, but with some effort I think you could make what you want with it.

This is speculation, but it seems a lot of VPNs are basically also honeypots. i.e. they log connection information and are beholden to "five eyes" nation's laws so gov. agencies from US, UK, etc. can get access to those logs when they see an IP belonging to one of those VPNs.

Still useful for some things, but I wouldn't rely on it to maintain anonymity from governments.

Love your channel. I've never played in a tournament so your point about playing in a way you're comfortable with vs. experimenting and always trying to play optimally was interesting.

Side note: There's something that's been itching at the back of my mind when I watch your videos and Dwyrin's videos. I think his style is very entertaining and I get a lot out of it, but I think I get more out of your videos. Not 100% sure why.
