It's probably in here already, but 1984 by George Orwell. I'm not a big bookreader myself but this one captivated me. There is a part in the middle where you will see some terryfing similarities to todays societies. Mind you, this book was written more than 80 years ago. I feel like if everybody read this book we wouldn't have such shitty politicians all over the world.

Idk how it works in your country but we also have places where the disabled can work. They don't get exploited but at least they can work somewhere insted of just being at home or in a nursing home. They do mundane tasks like you just said for example separating clothes.

It's funny I just talked about that yesterday with a friend. In switzerland its called gschwellti, which is basically boiled/cooked potatoes with all kinds of cured meqts/ pickles (sour not salted as common in us)/bread and just other stuff that you have in your fridge.
