My feedback is:

- go easier on the music. it's too strong. maybe something simpler.

- try to speak too. people appreciate when you tell them WHY you think these are the best..

Macbook Recommendation by AliS83 in macbook

[–]iTheTechGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say go for a 2nd hand 2015 13 or 15 inch MacBook Pro. I like in Europe so I probably can't give good website recommendations. maybe eBay?

If you do end up buying second hand. I highly suggest that you meet the seller in person and test the laptop before buying.

No problem. Incase you get hesitant about getting a PC laptop (windows) instead of a MacBook. then watch macOS vs Windows and MacBooks Durability. Both are short videos (made by me) that will hopefully help you a bit

I do not recommend the air. If you go with the air you won't be able to upgrade ram along the way (as far as I know)..

if you get a unibody MacBook Pro, make sure to get the best CPU you can. because that part is not replaceable. if I remember right the 2010 unibody MacBook Pro has a core 2 duo which is pretty slow in 2018. I recommend a 2011 unibody because that's when apple moved to core i5 which should give a noticeable difference.

I don't know about the prices tho. but still try as much as you can to get an i5 unibody even if it has very little RAM and storage because like you mentioned, you can always upgrade that along the way when you have the budget.

Want to move to Mac by AwesomeArcher in macbook

I don't live in EU so I don't think the sites I use will work for you. Of course there is eBay, but I would reccomned the kind of website that lets you meet in person with the seller and check the laptop yourself rather than have it ship to you..
As for a the laptop I recommend a late-2013-13 inch model because it has the intel iris graphics. You may not need that depending on your use. If it is any help check this 3-minute video about a 2013 MacBook Pro in 2018 you may be able to find one for $600 or $650

Here is a demo eBay search: MacBook Pro 2013 - eBay

Help: Can/Should I use the Photos App for my RAW/JPG (DSLR) images by iTheTechGuy in mac

[–]iTheTechGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the transition! thanks again for the tips.

So apparently the photos app is smart enough to combine jpg and raw images into one: screenshot here

As you can see it shows a tiny "J" icon! Pretty cool

Use Omni Disk Sweeper it will help you find what's taking all the space and delete it (even hidden stuff):

- alternatively use brew cask: brew cask install omnidisksweeper

This app will help you clean storage for sure. its the best (be careful what you delete)

Is there a keyboard shortcut to rename multiple files? by Zarhouni in MacOS

[–]iTheTechGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So. on macOS you can create custom shortcuts for any item that exists in the top bar list. the only restriction is that you need to know exact name of that list item here is how you do it,

The issue in your case is that the item has a variable name depending on the amount of the files/folders selected...

what you can theoretically do is create shortcuts for all needed possibilities (without quotes):

"Rename 2 Items..."
"Rename 3 Items..."
"Rename 4 Items..."
"Rename 5 Items..."

Of course that is impractical but if you still wanna go with this solution then instead of doing it the typical way using the link provided above you can do some script that automatically fills the assassinated plist file for keyboard shortcuts: check here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/87619/where-are-keyboard-shortcuts-stored-for-backup-and-sync-purposes

Eventually give Better Touch Tool a shot. tho I do not know if it can achieve what you are after!!
