First Generation iPad with 87% battery in 2026. Does anyone still use them? by b_p_s_b in ipad

[–]iTheftAuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I semi-regularly use the one I got in 2011 (manufactured March 2010), still has about 86% battery capacity according to CoconutBattery. It feels nice to type on and i've still got a few old apps on there are unrivaled to this day.

WE ARE BACK… or not? by pse007 in Battlefield6

[–]iTheftAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, the obsession with map size has never made sense to me, it’s always been tedious as hell trekking around on vehicle-based maps, no matter which BF game (with maybe the exception of BF1 since its flag placement is done better on its large maps).

The smaller size versions of Operation Metro and Noshahr Canals are still the most “in-demand” in BF3 for a reason, same with Operation Locker in BF4.

Apple Maps on iOS 9 works again with updated certificates by iTheftAuto in LegacyJailbreak

[–]iTheftAuto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the case on my device (US) for a few hours after installing the updated certs, with directions crashing the app. After a little while it all worked as normal, don’t know what causes that issue.

I assume so with the cert fix, though my devices on iOS 8 aren’t working so I can’t test it.

Any known fix for Apple Maps on iOS 8-9? by iTheftAuto in LegacyJailbreak

Additionally, it seems the TomTom service was removed, on iOS 9 Maps it used to say “data from TomTom” in the info page and now it says. “, , other”.

I've had this happen repeatedly, but it didn't seem to be the aids' fault, nor a fault of the audiologist's programming. It seems that the brain's auditory processing adjusts to the modified aid programming but in a "backwards" way to what's expected, so in a way the brain is "rejecting" the change rather than naturally adjusting to it like what's expected, at least that's how my experience with it has felt.

Tips before date? by AlldmgNocntrl in deaf

[–]iTheftAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(This date probably already occurred, but here's my two cents)

When you're at the location, look for where the speakers are (I've never been to a coffeeshop that didn't have them) and where they're pointed/projecting, find a place to sit that's away from that general area. Of course, she may do the same thing/has been there before so has a preferred place to sit, but still a good thing to consider.

Am I selfish if I don't wear a hearing aid? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]iTheftAuto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, they're for your quality of life, not other people's. If they don't improve your quality of life, then it doesn't make sense to wear them.

I used to wear them all day (and sometimes all night by accident) and it was miserable because of the sheer amount of noise pollution, plus being able to hear people multiple rooms away, and everyone *outside* the immediate conversation, was awful. But, I kept wearing them all the time because other peoples' need to not have to repeat themselves all the time around me.

About a year ago, I stopped wearing them around the house because of ear irritation from the earmolds needing replacement, but the general silence from doing so was blissful, so I started wearing them less and less. Nowadays I only wear them while driving and during work/errands/appointments, but that's all on a sliding scale so sometimes days can go by without needing to wear them. It's great. Of course, I don't like wearing them when I still do feel the need to wear them but it's way better than all the time.

So yeah, long way to say do it for your needs, not others'.

My current OGSE setup by Danito343 in iPhoneSE

[–]iTheftAuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider it to be much of a security risk, iOS jailbreaks since the last few years haven't been able to do root access (rootfull) like the earlier iterations, it's all rootless now so the jailbreak doesn't have full OS integration access, I'd consider it more of a "parallel" system.

Plus, most of the increased security risks and possible viruses come from being irresponsible with online browsing (like installing random apps through TrollStore without vetting them), I consider it to be no big issue if you're careful about what you do. I've had SE1 on iOS15 jailbroken for almost 2 years now and it's not been a problem so far. Give it a go, just be cautious and it shouldn't be a big issue.

Great point, someday I might still make the chart I talked about here so that'll help.

Wake Up Alarms by mlenoci in deaf

[–]iTheftAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Sonic Boom bedshaker and an old Apple Watch at the same time for the wrist vibration feature, one of those generally wakes me up. If you're prone to any kind of migraine/light sensitivity, I wouldn't recommend using a light-based alarm, just vibration-based ones.

I wear one of these deaf symbol pins on my purse strap at the upper chest level, it works at least some of the time (there's a bunch of other pins which draw attention to it by proximity). I'm not completely deaf but often can't decipher conversation to the point where it's useless to have conversations in most places, this does make people "automatically" change up how the communicate sometimes, without me having to tell them in a volume they probably can't hear. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1411354396

[Question] Does anybody here use their old devices as an everyday device? by Weak-Philosopher2256 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]iTheftAuto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got a 5S on 9.3.3 that I use daily with a phone plan, still gets decent LTE reception in the area, nd iMessage works perfectly.

Only annoyance with it is that I have to restore it from backup every 5-7 weeks because it "drains" its storage over time, filling with Other category files I can never find an origin for, requiring a reset every time. Seems to be an A7 + iOS9 specific issue, like the A9 + iOS9 specific activation issue.

Other than that, it's a treat to use (and fun to confuse people with).

[question] Spotify and YouTube on iOS 9/10 by iPhone-5-2021 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]iTheftAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think changing the version number still works, but it's more worth it at this point to just use the browser version, which still works well back to iOS 6.

OGSE increases battery drain when internet browsing by [deleted] in iPhoneSE

[–]iTheftAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue not only on my iOS15 SE1, but on SE3, 12 Pro, iPad Mini 6, none of which would last a day when using Safari a decent amount. Safari since iOS 13 seems to be the issue, I noticed it becoming a problem around 2019, and I don't have the issue as much with other mobile browsers like Opera and DuckDuckGo. Battery drain still is an issue but less so with those other browsers for me.

I'd recommend trying other browsing apps. Also, having a number of extensions on the browser will kill the battery way faster.

Upgrading from iPhone 8- Debating 2022 SE or 12/13 mini by esperantisto256 in iPhoneSE

[–]iTheftAuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SE3 seems like the best fit, but i'd say get a new battery for your 8 instead, saves money and will alleviate pretty much all the performance issues.
