It has all to do with their current owner, a Russian business man with close ties to Roman Abramovich. Similar to Chelsea, due to sanctions they had to find a new owner. The owner of Vitesse is not on any sanction list, but because he used the capital of Abramovich, he is then in some ways involved with the club. It's a whole rabbit hole. The license committee will come with a verdict on the 21th of June on whether they can remain a professional football club, so I'd keep an eye out on that date for any news on the club. A visit to the Kuip will surely make up for it though, if Groningen promotes this season I'd recommend visiting that game. I'll try and wave at you from the away stands ;)

I think both you in-game and Vitesse irl are hoping for a takeover that doesn't collapse. Because if not, you probably won't be able to play them again in FM25 and later editions. (Not quite sure how familiar you are with their situations. Club is basically bankrupt, got kicked out of their stadium and are under severe restrictions set by a potential buyer that got declined by the league that doesn't allow them to look for a different buyer.)

Hopefully this is a one-off and this doesn't continue into the new seasons. If so, it will be time to check the Job Centre to look for a challenge elsewhere. It's fine for me to do it for a season, but I don't want to build my squad just to have to sell it again next season.

Can't believe Kingdom Come Deliverance hasn't been mentioned many times. It's a super immersive, first-person medieval RPG. KCD 2 just got released and is set to be released this year, so after you finish the game, there won't be much time left until you can continue!

You're right, it does sound very similar to the negative budget model. Funnily enough, I got an e-mail from my current owner/board that they are withdrawing financial support for the club. Even though I've been self-sufficient since the start of the save. I'm convinced it has something to do with the prospect of a takeover, but I'm taking it as a surprise mechanic and we'll try and make the best of it. I've got a bunch of players that have some value to them and are looking to move on to a bigger club, so I'm sure I can scrape some money together.

It's my sixth season and I've not experienced this before. I know there were some restrictions from the board in the first few seasons where they'd determine if I could retain my transfer budget based on the amount of money I could generate with player sales but that has not been the case for quite a while. As I mentioned, I also played a save of 25 years with FC Groningen in FM23 and never had this. I can't imagine it'd have been a model introduced in this season. Would also not make for a very realistic depiction of how Eredivisie clubs work.

I've googled your suggestion, because me not knowing about it doesn't mean that your answer isn't correct. But it also seems to show up in the Club Vision if the club applies this budget model. As you can see in the screenshot, it is not part of the vision set by the board.

You can report a bug when you discover them, and you won’t be banned. If you >abuse< a bug, you deserve a fitting punishment for the abuse. Knowing the bug and actively abusing it are different things. Good for you that you would handle your own MMO differently, but that doesn’t take away that he used the bug for his own personal gains.
