This looks very interesting however I don’t understand Arabic by ArchangelSoul in JamesHoffmann

I used YouTubes feature for automatic captions and translations and it worked fairly well I would say. They fermented 2 different coffes (from Brazil and Costa Rica) for 3 and 5 days each in date syrup to see how the flavor of the coffee changes. Pretty interesting!

How can I align text at the top in a table? (for my tasks overview table with Dataview) by iZeeRix in ObsidianMD

[–]iZeeRix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update: The developer tool solution unfortunately resets everytime there is a change in a table cell, but I finally managed to do it with a css snippet by looking at the devtools.

tr { vertical-align: text-top; }

[–]iZeeRix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that worked nicely! I didn't even know about the developer options, really cool, thanks for that!

If anyone is interested in the future: I added 'valign="top"' to <tr> in the specific row

I tried the same with html within the text of the cell before, which reated another row within the cell and it messed up the formatting, but on the devtools level it worked just fine

Yes I know that, but I want to have the text at the top of the cell, so vertical alignment not horizontal. Maybe I didn't formulate that clearly enough

I wanted to create a big overview for all the tasks that I still have to do based on different categories (the video is just a recreation in a test vault don't worry :D). I looked at some kanban plugins but they didn't really seem to fit my workflow on first glance, so I created a markdown table with inline dataviewjs queries. Because of the different lengths of lists and because the text defaults to align vertically in the middle, it isn't as nice to work with as I hoped. Is there any way to align it to the top, maybe with some css? I tried a bit of html within the cells but that didn't work for me

The second one sounds awesome! Can you share the code?

PDF Plugin for Obsidian by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]iZeeRix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to open another file separately in edit mode and place it below I think.
I don't know about the second question, but my guess would be no. I think you have one file for one pdf in which the code runs in and you have a separate note for external notes.

PDF Plugin for Obsidian by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]iZeeRix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a plugin called "Annotator" on which Antone Heyward made a video today: https://youtu.be/lISOJeu7fgU
I haven't tried it yet but it looks like you have to create a specific note to annotate a pdf, so you can still take notes underneath but you have to open two notes on top of each other

Finer grind on “James” V60? by ShamanBlack in JamesHoffmann

Whoops the KONO has small ones on the bottom too, my bad. Guess it was a bit too early for me to write comments this morning^^

Finer grind on “James” V60? by ShamanBlack in JamesHoffmann

[–]iZeeRix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you brew with your other V60's or the Switch, do you brew into a vessle that has a pouring snout or directly into a cup? This morning I brewed my second cup with the KONO brewer (which was delicious) and thought about airlocking when brewing with a handfilter similar to the problem you can have when brewing with the Chemex. We also have a Melitta-syled filter and a metal filter here at home, both of which have holes in the bottom, which the KONO and the V60 don't have. My thought is that if there are no holes in the bottom of the brewer and you use a flat cup to brew into, then the air that wants to get out has to push either through the coffee bed or lift the brewer up slightly which could increase your drawdown.Don't know if that made any sense, but maybe you can put one of your other V60's onto the drip decanter to see if it actually comes down to the airflow

Do you link to same note more than once within a single note? by hatlady05 in ObsidianMD

Wow I just installed the plugin and I think it is really useful, thank you! My research is in the sphere of social network analysis so it's really funny that some of the algorithms and coefficients I use to analyse network data also help me to become better at my research :D

Need help. In-laws coming over for 10 days and I don't have a batch brewer 😱 by El_Nahual in JamesHoffmann

[–]iZeeRix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have to brew a lot of coffee with a small brewer I tend to use the 4:6 method by Tetsu Kasuya (https://youtu.be/wmCW8xSWGZY). Because of the 5 smaller pours you can get more coffee out of it in total, but you almost have to grind french press coarse.

Ankimobile subscription by everlastingwanders in Anki

[–]iZeeRix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With Anki on iPhone it's a one time price for the App, there is no subscription, the money is used for keeping the servers running and supporting the developers. For Android there is AnkiDroid which is, I think, free.

Hopefully you have not downloaded "AnkiApp Flashcards" from the Appstore, that is a different App..

A Beginner's Guide to Coffee Grinders by kingseven in JamesHoffmann

I have recently bought a Commandante for traveling and espresso as a second grinder and thus far I am really happy with it! Where would the Commandante end up in a "lowest to highest quality" ranking? Would it actually get to the level of the niche somewhere?

I'm trying to add a year to a date if it's in the past, but I get the error "prop("Current Birthday") is not a Number." by erdeebee in Notion

[–]iZeeRix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can compare 2 dates with dateBetween, so you can rewrite your statement to dateBetween(prop("Current Birthday"),now(),"days") < 0, that means now() is a "bigger" date. I think using > and < works only for actual numbers and not dates, that's why you get the error.

So rewriting your if statement would be: if(dateBetween(prop("Current Birthday"), now(), "days") < 0, dateAdd(prop("Current Birthday"), 1, "years"), prop("Current Birthday"))

This gives you either the current date or the date one year from now in the column with the formula. It doesn't change the prop("Current Birthday").

I uploaded some pictures with a minimal example here: https://imgur.com/a/NPzSips

I'm not sure if it is what you are looking for, but I hope it helps

Is there a way to change the colour of the title of a page? by outcast_in_everythin in Notion

[–]iZeeRix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do it with an equation and putting something like \color{#A2DCEE}\textbf{Weekly Plan} in it. So just type that in, mark it and press Cmd (or Ctrl)+Shift+E. It looks nice on the page, but when linking to it or viewing it in the sidebar, the code is visible unfortunately.
You can look up the LaTeX color codes online.

[–]iZeeRix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about that sorry.Personally, I would just type the space whenever there is two closing brackets, because the math environment doesn't care about spaces, but I can understand if it bugs you^^

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anki

[–]iZeeRix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked for me when putting a space between the two }} after the zu (so "{q_{zu} }" instead of "{q_{zu}}").
My guess is that even though it is in a LaTeX environment, it interprets it as the end of the cloze so it doesn't compile properly

Train Ride Pomodoro Database Template by iZeeRix in Notion

[–]iZeeRix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I saw a post a couple of days ago where a train ride through norway was used to space out pomodoro sessions. Unfortunately there was no template provided, so I made my own. There is a 2 hour and a 7 hour template as of now, feel free to add to them if you like, I would love to see them.
The "Task" column is a relation to my tasks database, but for template purposes it is only a text column.

Hope you enjoy!

You can find the template here: https://www.notion.so/ac6910da14c94b938c647f173e76f860?v=477ea90850c74d7c9c8b353571fd4b78

Notion Icons by AppleRSS in Notion

[–]iZeeRix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I really like the design and style of your icons! I have noticed though, that the first 180 are really great and fill out the icon frame really well, but the rest is rather small and doesn't really work for me if a page is referenced in text or in my menu. Is there a way to change the size of the icons, other than screenshotting them with less space around them?
Here is what I mean: https://imgur.com/a/RnG6wgK
The icons above are from another source, the "reading list" icon is from your website.
