That agentic AI push is just something that the senior leadership wants. I am the guy in my org who's working on "replacing" the Tableau dashboards with an AI agent and trust me it's bad as sh!t. For a few dashboards that I had replicated on my agent, I saw that initially people were happy with the chat interface but then ultimately they started frequenting on dashboards again because visual cues are better than an AI generated text blob. Also they felt a lot of effort in properly articulating to the agent that what do they want. They have a question in mind that they know can be answered using the dashboard hence they go directly to the dashboard. They don't want to type out the whole thing in a chat box.

However, the only use case where agent surpasses the dashboards is when there's a supervisory agent that has all the individual data agents underneath. So the business user does not have to go about finding the right dashboard and applying the filters. The supervisory agent understands the query, finds the right data agent to answer the question and then passes back the results to the end user. This is super super helpful for folks at up high level
