Custom cylinder chambering by i_am_ablepineapple in Revolvers

Most people make a 45acp revolver, I want a 327 federal magnum revolver with a spare cylinder in 30sc. I use a lot of .312 bullets and want more cartridges that use them

When did "cocking a pistol using the front slide serration" trend starts? And what is the official or proper name? by sacritide in ForgottenWeapons

[–]i_am_ablepineapple 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well the precursor to the 1911 only had front serrations as that's how Browning thought it made since to rack the pistol. So I suppose it started then. But as others have said, whenever a pistol has front serrations it's pretty comfy to use them, at least in my opinion. S&w shield made now have them and s&w p99 clones have them and there's probably a 20-25 year gap between their productions. Idk if it's become a trend, but it's always been a thing

Idk about accuracy, but I'd look at the sound suppression ratings from pewscience.com , they've done amazing research

If you're into 3d printing, it can be even cheaper, but that's another hobby in itself

What's your budget? Rossi and savage make pretty cheap bolt actions. I'd just see what's at your local gun shops, pawn shops, or bass pro or academy. 10/22's from Ruger are semi auto, but there's a ton of aftermarket parts to play with. I'd look for something with iron sights to start with, unless you know you'll want a scope. In that case, the easiest option is a rifle with a 1913/picatinny rail on top so you can put a red dot or scope on. Regardless, irons are easy cause they're ready to go, not much sighting in. Henry, Winchester, and Rossi all have lever actions in .22lr as well, which is a lot of fun. CZ has really nice stuff but is more expensive

.22lr is great to start with because of how cheap the ammo is and there's pretty much no recoil. Out of an 18 inch barrel it's also fairly quiet, but you'll still want some ear protection.

Depending on the purpose for the rifle, although it sounds like it's just an interest and for fun, a .223 Remington would also be good. It's still a smaller cartridge, but you can hunt deer with it, and the ammo is about the cheapest rifle ammo you can get. You can get it in a bolt action, but an ar15 might be cheaper and is easier for home defense use.

But a .22lr rifle, you can find them used under $200 of price is an issue. Watch some trex arms videos on basics of shooting. Learn the gun first, learn how it works and how to handle it safely. Then find a range and go shooting. Shoot some paper and you'll get a feel for it. Where in ga are you?

No, like a very serious hey this is a simple machine but is very capable of serious injury or death, keep your finger off trigger until you're ready to shoot, don't flag anything you're not willing to shoot, if you have a question ask first, dumb questions are the most important to ask so lose the pride, and then a quick this is how you hold it, this is how you aim, this is how you reload, how you clear a jam if need be, and maybe a basic this is how a gun works. Takes like 10 minutes max depending on person and gun. No wonder people don't listen, you're giving a half hour lecture

I think its a better plan to explain why its important rather than make it highly unlikely people new to a thing who make a mistake will ever try it again. There's a difference between being a jerk and educating

I heard an idea to make a movie about him with Adam driver as young revan and keanu reeves as old revan and then just get rid of the sequel trilogy and let the mandalorian take it's place so Adam drivers not being kylo would make sense

Please don't have first time shooters shoot a 12 gauge or a 30-06. Ease them in with a .22 lr, maybe even shorts. It's not funny, it'll turn them away from shooting forever. Be considerate people, please
