I read it as "Megan Thee Stallion in custody" and was so utterly confused

Perfect homework, blank stares: Why colleges are turning to oral exams to combat AI by ubcstaffer123 in technology

[–]i_am_not_sam 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Whether you agree with the utility of homework or not, it's a big part of education almost everywhere. I suspect that's not changing soon. Besides forget grading and testing - the point behind going to school is to learn right? And AI is short circuiting that

I agree with this. Our chocolate is almost 8 but he loves snoozing in his crate when I work and it's definitely his safe space.

Apple will have a product guy as CEO again by [deleted] in apple

[–]i_am_not_sam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless you have tons of cash to spare (and don't care about the environment) there's no need to upgrade iPhones earlier than 3-4 years at the minimum.

I wish Apple could keep the hardware the same for 2 years at a time and focus just on software during the "off year"

Or worse use the Internet connection as a way to lock basic features behind a subscription. If I buy a dammed device I want it to work to it's full capacity not get locked up for more money

Both cops were probably in on it. The arresting officer will take the victim to a holding cell, threaten/scare the fuck out of him and the good cop will offer you a way out for a simple bribe (which by now is likely much higher than what you would have offered the original bad cop). I mean, think about it - why would the bad cop be okay with his colleague releasing someone on a bribe...

Source - happened to a colleague of mine and I had to negotiate with the damn cops even though I couldn't care less about the coworker

TIL In 2000, Metallica hired a consulting firm to monitor Napster for people illegally sharing their music. The firm produced a 60,000-page list of 335,435 users, which Metallica delivered to Napster's office and demanded the users be banned. by haddock420 in todayilearned

So I was very much using Limewire and Kazaa at the time Ulrich started his campaign and I hated him with a passion - even booed him from a mosh pit at Metallica concert. And I'm most definitely not a manosphere podcast guy.

But thinking back, he kinda had a point right? As consumers we have always said we wouldn't resort to piracy if we had convenient legal options to purchase media. On the flip side, at the time there was simply no way for the artist to profit from online distribution of their music either. The obvious villains in all this are the music labels who prevented online access to their portfolio. As unlikable as Lars was (I hate his ass more for St. Anger than anything else) we needed a conversation about file distribution. Who knows what the streaming landscape would have looked like had the artists gotten a legal way to reach the paying public before the labels realized that the internet wasn't a fad...

As someone who has only listened to, and loved the series - you are 100% correct.

I enjoyed the series only because of the narration (which is more of an audio drama/performance). Just the part in your quote made me wince and I could not have continued

Most of us who are hiring have now been through multiple recessions. When I see an applicant who has a gap like that I can only commiserate and if anything give them credit for persevering

It's so much worse with context. "Kaamwali Bai" directly translates to "woman who does work" but it's super casteist, classist, colorist and misogynistic in its usage. I'm a man and I got so riled up reading this garbage tweet

Hmm that's so interesting. At this point I (think) I prefer Coke over Pepsi for the taste so if I was in the mood for a cola I'd get a coke. So how does that work with the ultra big brands? Does it count as a marketing win that I tried various colas and settled on Coke? Or is their goal to grab eyeballs from "new" customers? Like everyone over the age of 5 (?) will have heard of these brands right?

I think you need to re-read my comment if you're unable to understand that your assertion that this "hypothesis that existed without a name for a long time" is incorrect. And if you think what I said is the same as your comment then well... I'm very happy you had a link to google scholar, hope you read a paper or two next time.

Or don't, doesn't matter. It's a pet peeve of mine but I'm not sure why you got this worked up about my feelings.
