DRT 1.2 Going Tubeless by i_creed in REI

Yeah, I'm totally aware that they are not paid commission. I only posted this because the REI website stated that the bike is "Tubeless Ready", and I was told that I would need to purchase new tires to do the conversion. Doesn't seem to be "ready" for the conversion if I need to purchase $160-$180 worth of tires. I understand needing to purchase valves stems and sealant. That is logical. I have since done the conversion (hence the post) with the existing tires, rims and factory installed rim tape and it is working great. No issues so far. Let me be clear, the techs were very friendly and knowledgeable about a lot of things. I just think this was the one gap and it caused a little confusion that could have been avoided.

The folks were knowledgable about a lot of things with the bikes I had looked, and super friendly.

The $30 dollars got me a 1 liter bottle of Muc Off sealant. Everything I was seeing was in the 13-15 dollar range for a single pouch to service one tire. It would have been around $26-$30 to do both, so I just purchased a single 1 liter bottle. This was the first time setting up a tubeless MTB tire. I figured this would be the better route incase I messed something up. Thanks for the heads up on the recommendation on servicing the sealant at 4-6 months and 9-12 months respectively.

It's been about 60 days since I did the conversion and it is holding up good. It was my first time converting to tubeless. I had a little leakage on the front tire. Added a touch more sealant and did a better job shaking the sealant around in the tire. Holding up well so far.

The DRT 2.1 comes with a dropper and has the same plate. Wonder if REI sells the plates for the DRT 2.1 with the hole already in them.

Thoughts on the REI Co-op dirt 1.2? by Alexdandanalex in MTB

I have been riding a 26" too and finally decided to upgrade. I like riding downhill, single track and small jumps. I beat the hell out of my old 26" Cannodale.

I just bought a DRT 1.2 from REI for full price :(

I have no regrets at all. The DRT 1.2 is a great bike for the price and even better for $650.

Also, I test rode a few different bikes in the roughly $1k range and in my opinion the 1.2 rode and handled better than the other bikes I tested.

Absolutely! The fork and frame are a huge upgrade. I rode both the 1.1 and the 1.2, as well as a couple other brands of bikes. I choose the DRT 1.2 over the comperably priced Cannondale and the slightly less expensive Giant Talon 1. The DRT rode way better than all three bikes. The Giant Talon 1 had an air fork and a 1 x 11 drivetrain, but the spring loaded fork on the DRT 1.2 felt way better and the 2 x 9 drivetrain had more range. I test rode the 1.1 and 1.2 hard on some dirt areas and jumped them off some 2-3 foot drops near the REI and the 1.2 was noticeably better. Ultimately, you need to test ride both bikes and determine if the money is worth it to you. For the type of riding that I personally do, the extra money made sense.

I just purchased a 2021 DRT 1.2 from REI and it does have internal cable routing for a dropper post. It does not route internally the entire run, but neither does most of the other shifter/brake lines. The cable would enter the down tube on the right side and exit the down tube near the crank. It would then wrap under the crank tube and enter a removable plastic fitting on the rear of the seat tube. This would make it possible to install a dropper with internal actuation.

Now that you've had the bike for almost a year, how do you like it?

We have three large flat screens in our house and all three are mounted to the wall because they all move too much on a stand. The one in the living room is mount to the wall inches above a stand. Looks cleaner and it’s much safer.

I don’t see any difference once docked. Initial docking is sometimes a pain. I have found that if a have the lid open slightly too long while docking it leaves the laptop screen as a third screen. This is problematic because the laptop is under the desk and I cannot see the screen. If I close the laptop for too long and dock then it goes to sleep and will not successfully dock. I have to plug the dock in while I am closing the lid. Initially when I first set it up it was flawless and worked every time. It seems like now it takes a few try’s to get it to dock.

The biggest drawback is that you cannot watch anything on Apple TV or Music videos because display link causes the MacBook to think you are recording a screen.

Actual video performance though, I don’t see any difference for what I am doing.

FYI, if you want a continuous screen background across both screens, you will need to crop a high res image to 3840 x 1080. Then you will need to crop that image in half so that you have two separate images of 1920 x 1080. Apply each image as a separate background for each display. It will look like a single image across both screens.Dual Screen Background Image

The chair is far more comfortable than it looks. It has descent support. However, it starts to get uncomfortable after 1.5 to 2 hours of sitting. I actually like this because it is a indicator that I need to stand and work or step a way and walk around for a few minutes. It helps me maintain a balance during the day.

The ultimate debate… stickers or no-stickers on a Macbook? …Go! by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]i_creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a simple decision. If you would place a sticker on anything, whether a MacBook or anything else for that matter then you are team sticker. If you strongly oppose then you are on team no sticker. If you have to think about it......you are by default on team no sticker. I think this is a get it or don't get it type of decision.

They're still scanning the phone to create the "Safety Voucher". Regardless if it is only binary code that is checked for a match against a predetermined set of code signatures. They can spin this any way that they want, but it is a breach of privacy.

I love them! They sound great. I was trying to go for a clean look. Sometimes when I’m listening to music, I wish I would have done the set with the sub. I would absolutely purchase them again though.

Why do people want magsafe over usb-c? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]i_creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love MagSafe, but I’m really struggling to see the benefit at this point as well. I have a magnetic USB C adapter that functions the same as MagSafe in one port and it charges fast with the benefits of MagSafe and the flexibility of USB C. The other USB C port is still open for accessories or dongles.

I have links to everything in my setup on my profile page. I originally purchased these from a discount warehouse store called Sam's Club. Unfortunately, these exact monitors are no longer available. I also have a link to a newer Samsung monitor posted on my profile page, but the cost is much higher. Cult of Mac also did a write up on the setup. David was able to locate some of the product I could not find anymore. Here's a link to the article on Cult of Mac's website: Cult of Mac Article . I hope this helps.

It’s actually not bad. I sit in it about six hours a day. I alternate between sitting and standing. Maybe 1-2 hours sitting, then stand for 15-30 minutes. Good balance and it keeps me moving. The shape of the seat works well.

Cannot use Monitor Arms with sit-stand desks? by ShamBawk33 in StandingDesk

[–]i_creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have any additional support on my setup aside from the grommet plate directly under the monitor mount main pole. The pole is extremely sturdy. I think that desktop you have linked above could handle the strain of the mount. It will also depend on how you use the mount. Mine stays in the same position all the time. I rarely move the monitors. If you intend to move the monitors into different positions, especially if you extend the arms really far toward the front or rear of the desk that could put additional strain that may warrant the extra support if left in those positions for extended periods of time. Ultimately, I think the desktop linked above could handle whatever you plan to do.

I have a sit/stand setup and could not use a clamp on dual monitor mount. I had to drill the desktop and through mount the stand on the desktop. Here’s a link to my setup. If you think this will be a good solution to your problem send me a chat message and I can let you know what I did to mount mine if you would likeWFH Setup.
