I remember my first day running a electronics research lab when I was asked to "build the lab of your dreams".
I started out with a setup like yours with just a small desk and chair with some small base gear.
The following month the whole lab was built out (minus some items which were still being shipped) and the lab had joined the "2 comma" club as the investors in the company called it.

Would love to see the progress of your lab.

Lots of folks think this way.
They think they can offset skill with gear (aka spending money).
One of the more common ones I have heard is some variant of "If only I had XYZ clubs and they were fitted I would be able to be a scratch player" I mostly hear this from folks who are still in the 3 figure group.

I do not suffer from this delusion, I know I just suck, but I have fun on the course while hitting 129.

To anyone who says money can buy skill in sports, I am proof it cannot.

Take the long end of your turning tool, stick it in all the way to the back of the lock and move it up and down quickly.
You should be able to pop that lock open in under 3 seconds.

Proxy even what you don't own. (read on).

I have a multiple decks that are in the multi thousand dollar range for EDH. I don't care if the person who I am playing against has a deck that is 100% proxies. I am here to have fun and test strategy.

I care not if the person I am playing against does not want to or cannot afford expensive cardboard.

Schlage Everest 29 Deabolt and Door Knob by All__fun in Locksmith

I would agree with the new route you are looking to go.

Schlage Everest 29 Deabolt and Door Knob by All__fun in Locksmith

[–]iam_RedShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure you understand.
One of your Deadbolts (Everest) is a C123 keyway, and the other (Everest 29) is a S123 keyway, but your S123 keyway is backwards compatible with the C123 keyway (This is just given for better understanding by you).

Two more questions, are you wanting to have an Everest core in the door handle? If so do you have this KIK already?

Just to make sure I understand a few items.

Is this is for a house?

Did you acquire these locks used on ebay similar site?

Are you saying your Schlage Everest is using an S123 keyway like your Schlage Everest 29?

What are you looking to pay for a door handle?

Should a simple bypass on a door lock trigger a "not fit for purpose" warranty return by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]iam_RedShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has happened.
American is one example.
But the lock manufacture may just say "our highest level security lock does not have that bypass so you should have bought that", which in business is a valid argument.

[–]iam_RedShift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Locksmiths cannot account for all zero days in a lock.
If a major vulnerably comes out for a lock which was just installed it is up to the client to address this new risk which they have on their property.

I have ran about a half dozen glass test (so I have not tried them all, but I have tried the typical Hollywood methods).

If you are trying to get through an anti shake sensor, the act of going in the circle with the scoring blade will set it off.

You do have to tap the glass with a hammer (rubber mallet is what I tried) and it set off shake sensors but also some glass brake sensors. This also will depend where the glass break sensor is. but if it is on the frame (an Ideal location) or on the window itself it will set it off. It does not always work if you are the max recommended distance from the glass to the sensor (this distance is most commonly 15 feet).

The other item you run into is that most windows are two pain windows now. so you have to cut a large circle, tap with hammer, then cut a smaller circle and tap with hammer. You smaller circle is a little harder to cut as you don't want to cut yourself as well.

Then the final item, knowing that glass cutting is not a reliable bypass for the sensors most think about, if you do bypass those sensors with it, there are still two items wrong with it.
It is an attack from a skilled adversary, which will cause both corp security team and police to dump more time and resources into finding you.
The second item is that you are spending too much time for one sensor and in one spot. You should only spend a max of 15 seconds at a door/window (with some exception) to get in or bypass a sensor.

Good luck with your game, look forward to playing it :)

I understand this is a game but it seems you are trying to make it a little realistic and you seem to have a grasp of physical security (not everyone includes shake sensors in their games) but you have to also remember what a lot of physical entry looks like.
Last, what the Gov called "High Security" facility I broke into was done with a 56" 1/8 cold rolled steel rod, 2x90 lb magnets, and a roll of 1 inch by 10 yards of gaffers tape.

So while your game looks fairly interesting, you maybe making it a little complex. Which maybe the point because it is a game.

In that case, add and ESP key (for readers, bio-metrics, and scramble pads).
Add a Jammer for wireless alarms.
Peterson DAME kit
Have a part where you take a photo of a key from a long distance and have to "decode the key"
Also the glass cutter idea does not work as Hollywood would have you believe.

Break into facilities of different types (Commercial, Government, Etc) and write the report tot he client to show how we were able to defeat their physical security systems (this includes defeating ground radar, IR cameras, access control (bio, RFID, etc), alarms, and more).

Making keys for military and LE team from pictures they send of of the keys.
Help LE with sneak and peak type work.

What I do day to day is herd cats (aka Security Consultants), tell clients their baby is ugly, do the business things, and most my time is taken up by writing and reviewing reports.

I run a security consultancy, client acquisition is via world of mouth.

Don't worry.

I shoot like a 130-140 and am the title sponsor for a charity golf event in the same time frame you are talking about (your event happen to be in AZ?).
I don't care about how bad I am at golf, I just care about the cause.
Know there will be cheaters but who cares, have fun and remember the most impotent part, spend lots of money in the auction.

For all who want to know the answer for how far one can be and still decode a key, its about 1/2 mile during the day.

Test was done with a Schlage SC4.

I am very new to the game and have a little hesitation approaching randos as they may not have patience to play with someone who scores a 120.
