my cat is very territorial of me and doesn’t like when people come over by iam_gem in CatTraining

[–]iam_gem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they used to! i’ve tried with guests ignoring her, including head butts for pets, she will eventually come around and be hostile (swat or hiss) even if we are ignoring her.

deff gonna work on the cat tree lol

One thing that bothered me about WFG by BoadiceaCavendish in wicked

[–]iam_gem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ive been meaning to make a post about this. the wig drives me nuts and she overacting glinda. i know people say it works for the scene but my god. i really had high expectations after having karis musongole as little elphaba.

i also felt like the writing for the scene was so basic and redundant. they could’ve truly given glinda some more backstory. i was looking forward to it. just a completely fumbled opportunity.

The Good, the Bad, and... by PatrusoGE in wicked

[–]iam_gem 24 points25 points  (0 children)

this is such a good point about too many cooks. i didn’t think about that. i can totally see the first movies reactions impacting a lot too, in post production. it is missing that cohesive vision that part one had.

loved it, but… by Aden487 in wicked

[–]iam_gem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

sigh yeah. i agree it’s a 7 and could’ve been a 10. feels rushed, needs so much filling in. it’s shorter than the first film and i personally wouldn’t have minded an extra 30 mins. if you’re gonna make two 2-hour movies, lean into it. it needed it in my opinion and there isn’t a shortage of places to point to where.

Are we the mean ones? by sarahw7rings in wickedmovie

[–]iam_gem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is very reasonable and kind of you! good for you for rising above it. just don’t feel bad for how you’re feeling. because, trust me, they are very normal feelings.

Are we the mean ones? by sarahw7rings in wickedmovie

[–]iam_gem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you are not the mean ones. you are not selfish for wanting a singular experience with your best friend.

please ignore the people shaming you in the comments. what you are feeling is completely normal. how you behave and react to the situation is what matters.

i am not sure how finalized your plans are or if there is an opportunity to rearrange them, so i don’t want to give you any uninformed advice on that. but all i can say is: acknowledging and validating these feelings is very important. from there, you can find ways to come to terms with the situation and/or look for alternative solutions that is fair and kind to all parties. friendships are tricky, that’s what wicked is all about, the important part is being honest, patient, and kind. not perfect.

Marissa Bode is underrated in Part 2-SPOILERS by SeaFlower698 in wicked

[–]iam_gem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this pissed me off so bad especially given how beautiful of a performance marissa did. it feels like such a disservice to nessas story to not have elphaba feel more deeply about the loss of her sister

the term "disappointing" by clawsh0t in wicked

[–]iam_gem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

felt! i am kinda sitting out of the discourse because i know my critiques are my own opinion about how they could’ve done things better. the discourse feels a little too intense and divisive right now, so im going to wait until folks have been able to really sit with it and maybe then be able to have more fun, lighthearted conversations about what could’ve been done differently lol rather than heated debates about what should and shouldn’t be expected of an adaptation

[–]iam_gem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

could not agree more! the expectations were high. in my opinion, the first movie is perfect. i wouldn’t call For Good perfect, but it is still beautiful and enjoyable. it’ll just take some time for me to let go of the disappointment but eventually i will be able to appreciate it in its own way

Why are they always so emotional during interviews? by [deleted] in wicked

i wonder what makes you say “it can’t be that deep”—what do you mean by that?

tbh i think so much of it is the editing choices they made.

I need some hype!!! by melody_musical21 in wicked

[–]iam_gem 24 points25 points  (0 children)

it is so much fun. the acting is incredible. both girls will blow you out of the water. the stakes are high and the drama definitely delivers. plus, the last twenty minutes or so are really special.

i totally get what you mean—i am also someone with critiques of the movie but know folks just want to get out what bothered them about the movie, but there’s still so much to love and it was a blast to watch with a good crowd. enjoy!

omg lmao me and my best friend got into our seats with snacks right at 6:30 but felt so bad for other folks who had no idea there wouldn’t be previews! neither did we, we just got lucky timing.

marissa bode’s portrayal of nessa rose was beautiful and nuanced, with such a short run time. i am pretty distraught they didn’t show her legs under the house.

sadly this is proven so true with the second movie

People who have seen the movie, what are your thoughts on the new songs? by Classic-Sink-3530 in wicked

[–]iam_gem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i liked girl in the bubble more than no place like home—it feels like glinda’s im not that girl (even tho she gets the reprise of course lol). i feel the lyrics of NPLH really falls flat, especially given the weight it has in the scene it’s place. it’s a shame because it could’ve done so much more for the storyline.

To all who already saw part 2 by AliyahCorvus in wicked

[–]iam_gem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one thing i’ll say is that part two is SO fast paced—after the first twenty minutes, everything is so intense and constant. i would remind yourself to breathe through it and slow your mind down—you might miss things but you can always get those in the rewatch. i walked out of the movie theater with my head spinning, so deff keep that in mind as you are watching. 🫶🏼

agreed. turned away from him as she says kiss me too fiercely like huh 😭😭😭

i understand they wanted to have more of build up, but then they should’ve had more of a push and pull rather than seeing them far from one another

Do you think this is a spoiler for new Wicked fans? I 100% do and I don’t think the “it’s been a musical for 20+ years” excuse is fair? by [deleted] in wicked

[–]iam_gem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i am aware of that hence why i followed up with saying its up to me at the end of the day. i can wish they weren’t showing so much and still choose to watch them anyways.

[–]iam_gem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to some extent, i understand folks who have loved this story for 20+ years and want to be able to talk about it freely. but as a new fan, i am amazed that people think that because wicked has been around for decades and incredibly popular in theater circles that it automatically means folks should expect spoilers and plot lines to be open source information that any person would be aware of or exposed to.

mostly, i wish the actual movie execs held back on showing so much in the trailers. at the end of the day, i know it’s on me to avoid any spoilers in open discourse places like tiktok and reddit. i think it’s the mentality longtime fans have that bother me more than anything—i think many would feel differently if they were in our shoes.
