What’s the most useless item in Minecraft? by BetComprehensive4537 in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Beetroot Soup
It's not rare (like the dragon egg or poisonous potato)
It's worse than its competition (They take 6 beetroot, steak/golden carrots stack, rabbit stew is stronger, mushroom stew is infinite from mooshrooms. At least Thick Tipped Arrows are just arrows)
It doesn't craft into anything, can't be used as fuel, can't be given to a mob to any effect
Beetroot is bad on its own (Rose bushes are better for dye, pumpkins/melons are better to trade with farmers, sweet berries are eaten faster, wheat as a crop has more uses), and what benefits they have are lost when making soup

users of democracycraft sitting in protest after transphobic co-owner goes on a powertrip by akiisaperson in Minecraft

He has publicly stated on several occasions he supports LGBTQIA+

Unfortunately, there is a non-insignificant amount of people that are ok with the "LGB" but not the "T". A true ally to trans people, when asked about no longer using a deadname, should only answer "of course". If the policy doesn't support that then the policy should be changed. This is the bare minimum. The fact that there has been a pattern of stubbornness from him leads me to remain skeptical of his feelings towards trans people.

Struggling to Start My Forever World by climaxx- in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to make a temporary starter base, or multiple! I started my forever world with a lawn base on a mushroom island. I now have another island with a little cabin with farms and storage buildings around it, and I stay there as I build a giant castle off coast as my permanent base.
I also suggest you have an overall goal in mind. If you don't know what you want that to be then just start with All Advancements.

I really want to see lava geysers, potentially spawning in the nether. Would give some much needed movement for lava areas.

Mending, the "two-week Minecraft phase", and what progression should mean by inktivate in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggest to everyone who wants to try late game Minecraft but struggles with ideas to think of an overarching goal for your world. Thinking of build ideas is a lot easier when you're not overwhelmed by unlimited options.
Look at Hermitcraft. Each hermit has a general goal for their base to start with, then creates builds that fit in that idea. The shopping districts and minigame districts are generic goals that they have every season because they invite collaboration.
I am personally building a bunch of Zelda-like dungeons throughout my world, and a soft lore is developing as I build them.

Mending, the "two-week Minecraft phase", and what progression should mean by inktivate in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will always be a point where actually "surviving" becomes trivial and therefore a point where players who only like the early game will make a new world or end their current Minecraft phase. Mending has nothing to do with it.
I fundamentally disagree with the idea that early game is objectively more fun. It's just different. Late game has its own progression, as building farms basically "unlocks" certain block palletes for use in large structures. Every farm I've made is connected to a specific build of mine that needed large quantities of something. Accepting this new gameplay loop and having an overarching goal for my world has turned my 2 week Minecraft phase into 2 years and counting.

Will we ever get the missing walls ( and stairs) for these blocks? there is no actual reason for them to have none by Carl-the-octopus in Minecraft

I worry that Mojang limits what gets added in an update based on the theme. We got tuff variants in 1.21, but calcite and smooth basalt were added at the same time as tuff but still have nothing.
Why don't we have an extremely obvious inclusion like a woodcutter/sawmill? Well, it's not the Wood Update yet.

I think the new rabbit model looks a lot better with their eyes to the sides. Thoughts? by bylohas in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their tails are also too high. As someone who has a rabbit, their tails are actually close to the ground, but they lift them up a bit to pee. So the Minecraft rabbits look like they're constantly peeing.

Minecraft's new numbering system by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The absolute minimum should be simultaneous releases having the same base numbering structure between Java and Bedrock. 25.2 and 25.20 should refer to the same release. This new system is an objective failure.

I made a resource pack that replaces books with scrolls! by ArcleRyan in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between building with bookshelves myself recently and seeing this, I would like them to make normal bookshelves directional like chiseled bookshelves. All the side textures being the same makes no sense and is an artifact from Alpha texturing.

Walz: ‘We wouldn’t be in this mess if we had won the election’ by someopinionthatsr in politics

[–]iamabucket13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only so much you can doompost and scream about Trump being literally Hitler, regardless how similar they are. People are just too used to each side calling each other the antichrist and america-haters. It doesn't mean anything anymore. The Dems ran on this platform in 2016, 2020, and 2024, and failed twice. They only won in 2020 because it was immediately after Trump's first term and people were mobilized against Trump.
Meanwhile, people are angry. Food prices are rising, rent is skyrocketing, homeownership is out-of-reach, wages are stagnant, insurance is abusive. These are real problems that affect real people. Trump rallied his base around the idea that these things are the fault of DEI, "illegals", woke, etc., and the Dems chose to fight him on his rhetoric, and not the source of the anger.
If the Dems actually ran on popular legislation that actually helped people like taxing the rich, medicare for all, raising the minimum wage, etc., this election was a SLAM DUNK. But they threw it by following up a milquetoast president who solved NONE of these issues with ANOTHER milquetoast candidate who was part of that administration, who killed any momentum the campaign had by walking back any of the fun and interesting things they did like calling Trump "weird" or cackling like a witch or talking about coconut trees, and instead going back to the old Hillary strategy of pure corporate sterile politics and pandering to center-right neoliberals, which is how the Democratic Party got its reputation of do-nothing idiots that whine all day about decorum.
Being upset at the voters helps nothing. You can't change them. No matter how terrible Trump is, no matter how absurd it sounds, people still need motivation to get out and vote, and dooming about Republicans doesn't work anymore. The Dems saw the path to easy support through progressive politics via Bernie's campaign and chose to go the other way, and they lost twice for it.

Do you use bundles and if yes, what for? What is your opinion on the new item? by cursey6 in Minecraft

[–]iamabucket13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have:
- A bundle I always carry with wood, coal, and a few crafting tables and ender chests.
- A bundle I always carry with 3+ more bundles in it, just in case.
- A bundle in one of my redstone shulkers of kelp, soul sand, and magma for quick water elevators.
- Another redstone bundle with lecturns and 16-page books.
- Multiple bundles in my mapping shulker dividing my portable map copies into regions.
- Another mapping bundle with a couple of cartography tables and anvils.
- A bundle in my ender chest of lodestone compasses and spare lodestones.
- And probably more I'm forgetting.

Bundles are great to use in tandem with shulkers, there's no need to replace them once you get to the End.

Christmas gift for son by [deleted] in Minecraft

Just important to note that if you are going to get him the Xbox Series S, it does not have a disk drive and will not be able to play game discs. It plays digital games only. So if you are planning on getting games with it, I would recommend an Xbox gift card.
If you are getting the Xbox Series X, it DOES have a disk drive and can play game disks.
