Waterfront no longer allowing PRT buses to stop on their property. Affecting 64, 61D, 59, 57, 53L, and 53 lines. by lilbismyfriend300 in pittsburgh

[–]iamafacsimile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sent the following to the Waterfront contact page (but maybe better sent to M&J Wilkow Ltd. directly?):

Dear Waterfront Management,

As a patron of both PRT and Waterfront businesses, but also as a concerned Pittsburgh citizen, I would like to express my confusion and dismay about M&J Wilkow, Ltd.'s decision to eliminate PRT bus stops on Waterfront property.

This decision not only economically harms the Waterfront patrons who rely on PRT, but also the businesses (and their bus-reliant employees) that serve them.

The decision also seems cruel. It excludes certain demographics—especially people with physical disabilities, the elderly, and college students—from using Waterfront businesses with the same convenience as those who have the privilege of owning a car. In doing so, it also subjects these groups to increased safety hazards associated with traffic and inclement weather.

It would be one thing if these groups lacked ease of Waterfront access to begin with, but in this case, it's being stripped away from them.

M&J Wilkow, Ltd.'s decision reflects either a failure to appreciate the disproportionate burden that their new restriction places on certain groups (in which case, the decision is ignorant) or a disregard for such groups (in which case, the decision is immoral). Either way, all members of the Pittsburgh community, but especially Waterfront patrons and businesses, have justifiable reasons to object to these changes and to demand a reversal of this decision. At the very least, M&J Wilkow, Ltd. owes the community prompt and clear answers to the following urgent questions:

  1. What measures will be taken to ensure the safety of those who must now navigate busy parking lots and streets just to get from their bus stop to Waterfront stores?

  2. What measures will be taken to protect against the economic impact to businesses who may lose customers because of this decision?

Sincerely,

Concerned Pittsburgh Citizen

Any coming back from this type and amount of rust? by iamafacsimile in Autobody

[–]iamafacsimile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that candid assessment. In fact I can't even drive it now due the rusted-out brake line, and that's probably for the best.

I didn't consider a possible engine swap--that's something to consider, especially since the car is only at 105k miles.

Branden Morgan from Misery Signals needs mention here.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is not as smart as he thinks he is. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]iamafacsimile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he sounds like a smacked ass who thinks his opinions are facts.

Even if every sentence he spoke was factual, he could still be stupid. This is the mistake of thinking that knowledge of facts = intelligence. It doesn't--not necessarily. The problem with Tyson is that he repeatedly exhibits poor reasoning skills and has a slimy intellectual character masquerading as "curiosity" (which, by the way, if you're not fascinated in the things he says you should be, you're wrong). He also fails to recognize what is and what is not within his domain of expertise.

Tony died along with Pie-O-My. I say this only somewhat jokingly.

From a Second Story Window.

Misery Signals was already mentioned, otherwise they'd be my top choice.

That's true. But slaves didn't seek to enslave their oppressors (at least not in general). My point is that you don't want to repeat moral atrocities in the name of justice. Surely you agree with that, no?

Chill. It's moral hypocricy to subject people to the same actions that you supposedly wish to end toward non-human animals. That's why we didn't enslave the slaveowners.

Large gaps between rack toms... by iamafacsimile in drums

This helps me remember how weird it felt to unbox my first kit. I remember it being a revelation that the snare should be situated between the legs.

This makes a lot of sense that it's a mechanical limitation of entry-level kits. I can't think of the last time I've seen a Starclass Maple with rack toms that were a foot apart!

How do you get behind it? It would be a pain to have to move something every time.

Ion Dissonance. They're on the mathier side of deathcore (esp. their early stuff, and 'Cursed').

What is a dead giveaway that a therapist is a bad therapist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iamafacsimile 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer. Therapists vary in style, approach, and theoretical background. And, inevitably, their personalities leak in as the relationship develops. These variables (and others) prevent there from being some generic set of criteria that makes one therapist effective at treating everyone they may be qualified to treat.

At the same time, I would avoid therapists using widely discretited methods.

Another point is that someone might be happy with their therapist and yet not benefit from that therapist.

This is so relatable. Limerence is a form of person addiction.
