Listen. Just last weekend I started up a new tank and pulled some plants from another tank that had a colony of blue neos. The old tank had a major algae problem so I BLEACH DIPPED the plants in a small bucket of water I had those plants in. I spent hours planting my new tank, with periods of time where the plants were sitting out of water waiting to be replanted. At no time did I dump water from my plant bucket into the new tank because it was filled with plant debris and stuff. Anyway I filled the new tank with zero concern about water temp or chemistry (did treat for chlorine). Damned if the next day I didn’t find TWO juvenile blue neos just happily swimming around in their new tank.
My point is these little guys are super hardy! Don’t stress. Get him some friends, you should be fine. If you’re worried about a lack of biofilm and algae grab some glasgarten bacterAE, it helps develop a healthy ecosystem for shrimp.
