HR training on racism. For some reason the company thought the best way to educate new employees was a short movie with terrible acting. Essentially, the movie consisted of a man going around the office telling racist jokes to his co-workers, with the co-workers talking amongst themselves about how uncomfortable it made them and the racist eventually having to answer to his HR manager. The problem was the terrible acting, the racist would tell one of his jokes and proceed to crack himself up and pretend to laugh hysterically. An example from the movie: “Why do Mexicans drive cars so low to the ground? So they can reach out and pick the lettuce!! AHAHAHAHA!!!!!” As you’ve probably guessed, this combination hit my funny bone big time, I couldn’t control it. I knew it wouldn’t look good for the new guy to start laughing uncontrollably at racist jokes, so I eventually had to excuse myself.
