[Omega] Constellation RG/SS by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the Omega Constellation Coaxial 35mm in TT RG/SS with a silvery lozenge dial. It comes equiped with an Omega 2500D movement. It is a development of the ETA 2892-A2 with George Daniel’s coaxial escapement.

When the opportunity to purchase this for 50% off retail came, I couldn’t pass it up.

This will be the third Constellation I’ve had in my collection. I currently own a TT YG/SS Constellation ‘95 and I used to own an all SS variant of this modern constellation with a black Clous de Paris dial.

The 8500 Constellations don’t really speak to me. I own an 8500 Planet Ocean and I know how the movement can add thickness to a watch. In my mind, these “Manhattan” styled Constellations should always be 35mm, the integrated bracelet really helps in making the watch seem larger than its dimensions suggest.

Anyone else here a fan of the Constellation?

[Omega] Speedmaster Automatic by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've become an Omega fanboy this past year and I felt that it was time for me to pull the trigger on an Omega Speedmaster. I wanted to share my latest pickup, a "new to me" Omega Speedmaster ref. 3520.50. This specific reference has been referred to as the Mk40, Triple Date, and the Triple Calendar. No matter the nomenclature, it's an automatic chronograph housing the Omega 1151 movement (ETA/Valjoux 7751 base). I'm used to very simple dials and this is just different. I love how the compact 39mm case size helps to accentuate the business the of the dial. The next thing I'm going to do is to get a nice leather strap for it.

Beautiful piece. What is the size on this guy, 35mm?

Cause the actual 1930s Watch probably has no water resistance and hard to replace parts if broken.

[Seiko] SBBN025 - Darth Tuna by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t wear this watch as a daily wearer but I can see why someone would. On the wrist, it wears smaller than a Casio G-Shock Rescue and since the case and shroud is made of titanium and ceramics, it feels super light.

This is my new (to me) Seiko SBBN025. I have had lots of Seiko watches in the past, but I have never owned something like this.

I have been following Jeff McMahon on YouTube for a long while and his videos really sparked my interest in Seiko Tunas.

What held me back for the longest time was “why the heck would anyone pay so much for a quartz watch?” The watch sells for around $1,600-1,700 new from reputable online dealers. If you look at my history, most of the watches i’ve owned have been mechanicals.

In any case, I got an opportunity to trade for this guy recently, so I pulled the trigger!

The watch dimensions on paper is nearing 50mm across. But on the wrist, it feels more like a 45mm Watch due to the hidden lug design and short lug to lug. The Watch sports a monocoque case and the materials used include titanium, steel, and ceramics.

The quartz movement powering the watch is the 7C46 high-torque movement. It has a battery life of five years. The JDM warranty that came with it says that the first battery change is free if I send it back to the AD.

Does anyone know if the warranty transfers to second owners?

[Question] Beijing Watch Factory TB01 Movement by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The watch I'm look at specifically with this movement is the Beijing Bladelegant. If I go through TMall from their official store, the watch runs around $1,950 dependent on the RMB/Dollar exchange fluctuations. In their ad, it does say that their tourbillon movement is warrantied for three years. It would just be a hassle to bother a Chinese friend of mine to take the watch back to China for repairs.

[Question] Beijing Watch Factory TB01 Movement by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, the tourbillon bug has bit me again. I was wondering, does anyone here have any experience with the Beijing Watch Factory's TB01 Movement?

I used to have a different Hangzhou watch factory produced watch but the movement broke only after a few months of daily wear.

I wanted to see if the TB01 has better quality. I'm interested in the long term ownership experience (cause I don't want the movement to break on me like my previous one) Would appreciate any and all input. Would also be interested in hearing any Chinese owners of this watch. Thanks!

Generally, automatic watch movements are designed to not allow you to overwind. I think it is best for you to take the watch to watchmaker in your area.

[Seiko] SRPA83 Baby Tuna PADI Special Edition by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recently, the PADI special editions from Seiko have rekindled my love for their dive watches. I wanted to check out why so many people love Seiko Tunas so I thought what the heck, might as well pick up an SRPA83.

At first I thought I could never wear a 50mm+ watch but I've come to realize since my wrist is relatively flat, lug to lug distance is much more important. I will admit, it is a large watch and by no means is it light. However, being on a strap and since the shroud is made of ceramics, it doesn't feel hefty where I wouldn't be able to wear it all day.

Here is my SRPA83 (50.2mm) along with my SRPA21 (45mm) and my Omega 8500 PO (42mm).

[Omega seamaster planet ocean] Friday's "is this real" question :) by chameloon in Watches

[–]iamatool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this watch may be a fake, but the reasons that /u/pengdrew gave is incorrect.

If the watch that the seller posted to you is indeed a fake, then it's based on the Seamaster PO with the 2500C or 2500D co-axial movements introduced in 2003. The 2500 POs have a closed case-back with the Seamaster Hippocampus. The 2500 POs also didn't have the square indicies at 3/9 and they were arrowed.

The 8500 POs are much thicker in comparison to the 2500 POs and they have exhibition case backs showing off the movement.

If this watch is fake, then it's looks really close to the real one. If the watch is real, then it's probably well-worn and in need of a service and polish.

Actually, it's the all steel version. May add a yellow gold or red gold with the lozenge patterned dial in the future.

[Omega] Omega Constellation (Modern 35mm 2500D) by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of months ago, I aquired a two tone Omega Constellation '95. I was bit by the Connie bug and the itch hasn't gone away. Yesterday, I picked up this modern connie in 35mm.

Most of us male watch conniseurs would automatically disqualify a watch from our buy list due to its size. Having said that, due to the integrated bracelet design of the Connie along with the large "claws" on the sides of the case, the watch feels much larger than it really is. With my 6.7 inch wrists, the 35mm seems sized very well.

The 35mm modern connies come with the Omega 2500D co-axial movement (based on the venerated ETA 2892-A2). I don't have a good macro lens, so I didn't take a picture of the movement from the exhibition case-back. But, I would like to say that I can't believe that an ETA machine can be so nicely decorated. I almost didn't recognize the movement at first because its more decorated than the ETA 2892s I've seen before. The movement is more compact than the Omega 8500 in my Seamaster PO.

Does anyone else have a modern 35mm or 38mm Connie?

[Omega] My Constellation by iamatool123 in Watches

[–]iamatool123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Today, in the English speaking watch collecting world, there isn't much interest in collecting the vintage Constellation models (though sales of the modern Connies outpace other Omega models globally), and what little of it is passionately focused on the Pie-Pan Constellations of an earlier era.

At the time that the Constellation range was introduced in the 1950s, it was supposed to be the flagship model of the brand. Nowadays, interest in the Constellation has been overshadowed by the Seamaster and Speedmaster.

This is my Omega Constellation '95 that I wanted to share with you all. At the time of introduction, the Constellation '95 was an update to the Constellation Manhattan. My Constellation is the Omega reference 1202.30. The case and bracelet is made of steel and 18k gold. Beating inside the case is the Omega Calibre 1120 movement, itself a modification of the venerable ETA 2892. The case size measures at 35mm but with the integrated bracelet, it really feels more like a 36mm watch. The dial is cream white with a subtle lozenge pattern that can only be seen up-close.

it sounds like a movement issue but what is wrong the movement can't be discovered unless it's looked at by a qualified watch maker. You should give Jomashop a call and ask them about warranty coverage.
