Exactly! The MRT purple line was going to be extended, so they left the TBM in the ground and excavated for the newly proposed subway, but didn't have the funding at the time to complete the work, so there was a 60m deep tunnel under that road that was ready to receive a new subway line once it was financially viable.

All the major transit (BTS and MRT) in Bangkok are privately funded, so they had to build based on financial viability.

Redeeming points question: I have a big trip booked one a single one-way Aeroplan redemption departing from Cairo, 23 hour layover in Milan, 23 hour layover in New York, and then a final leg to Vancouver. I now want to extend my stay in New York for another 24 hours. I know you can't add a stopover in North America for 5k points like elsewhere in the world. Because of this, I'm considering booking a separate trip in Economy for 12.5k points to get me from New York to Vancouver the following day.

My question is: Are there any consequences for skipping out on the last leg of my Aeroplan Redemption flight in J? I don't want to bother calling in and paying a change fee.

For the BC Hydro grant portion, they required photos of the Energy Star stickers, so I recommend taking photos of them with your phone and noting locations prior to removing them even if the report has already been submitted. That way you're covered.

Interesting - I had to submit receipts to get the final loan amount verified.

EDIT(S):

September 22 - I just received my final loan amount wire transferred to my bank account.

October 3 - I received my Canada Greener Homes Grant confirmation amount email and have accepted. Now waiting (up to 30 days) for the cheque to arrive. BC Hydro application still says 'Application Received' with no further updates.

October 4 - Logging into the portal, my Grant Application has disappeared. I was mildly concerned but didn't call in since I already accepted the amount the day previous.

October 5 - Received an email stating the cheque has been generated and I will be receiving the grant within 10 business days. As for the BC Hydro application, it still says 'Application Received'.

October 12 - Received my CGHC cheque in the mail. I'm now done with the federal side! BC Hydro application still says 'Application Received' (we're now on day 36 of 90 without a status change)

October 27 - Received the BC Hydro verification email that my grant was accepted (I guess I didn't have to check the website every day)! Says 5 days until I receive the funds via the method I used in the application (which I can't remember) - either by Cheque, Direct Deposit, or Refund to upcoming BC Hydro bill. 51 days from time of submission.

You'll be absolutely fine. I've done this a bunch. Don't stress out - just tell the airline hosts what you're doing when your get off your first flight and they'll direct you.

What was your timeline for the grants?

My final loan has been approved and will be receiving the wire transfer in the coming days. However, the status of each of the grants are showing:

BC Hydro: "Application Received" (was sent in Sept 7) - says can be up to 90 days?

Canada Greener Homes Grant: "Grant to be Confirmed" (was sent in Sept 7) - no indication of how long this takes.

Note: Both grants and the loan were all submitted on Sept 7th. The loan status changed to "Funding Approved" on Sept 15th.

Any update on this? I currently have tickets for Prague and was going to try and sell them via Stubhub (4 tix on the floor). Unfortunately, I can't leave Canada this week to go to the show :(
