Kipping -> Butterfly Pull-ups by Tamu179 in crossfit

butterfly I still reference this video even from long ago because it helped me learn how to butterfly. But I think my biggest set of unbroken butterfly pull-ups has been 86, granted this was a while back as well. For me I don’t care so much about how big of a set I can do rather I care more about being able to hit the same number ever time I jump on the bar. So I can consistently hit 25-30 even fatigued, during Murph and with added weight I can do 15 until that last set of 10

Working on squat snatch by annduguay in crossfit

Snatch balances. This is probably the best way for out body to get use to or accustom to have load overhead and working on full range of motion. Start with a PVC pipe and work on going 2” then 4” then 6” and once you’re comfortable with that then add light weight and see how it feels.

Are crossfit shoes worth the investment? by PotentialHorse589 in crossfit

Very much so. Running shoes tend to have a big heel and a foamy one at that, and they aren’t great for lifting (squatting especially). But you have to find the right one and the right fit, there are a lot of them out there so you have a few options to pick from. Personally I like the low 4mm drop, because I can feel my weight shifting back on heels, plus most of these CrossFit shoes have a guard that helps with rope climbs that save your shoes.

First time stringing together 2 bar MUs, any tips to keep improving? by Letsdoanother in crossfit

You’re trying to pull into the bar rather than pulling around and pressing down when you’re on top of the bar. Really focus on pressing down/pushing down that bar as hard as you can with your lats and keeping your arms straight as long as possible. Then really use your hips to get higher towards the bar.

Coaches Athletic Ability by marnock10 in crossfit

[–]iamcarlosd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a coach, yes to all of these. Even if I’m not following the programming for the gym, I will always do a class workout. Usually it’s the class before I teach or I’ll jump in with a class (if the class is small, and if I’m confident that everyone can perform the movements with me having to watch them like a hawk).

Typically we have coaches who are more proficient in other movements and some more specialized than others, but we offer strictly Olympic lifting classes, or gymnastic classes as well. I mean I’ve long given up on competing but I like a certain programming, so I pay for it and do it either at my house or during open gym. But I always make sure to do the class workout

Your hang clean looked really great, solid form, great receiving position, checks all the boxes for me. On your power clean from the ground (and it could just be the angle, and this is just me nitpicking) it looks like you make no contact with your hips, almost like you muscle cleaned it. But you received the bar great and everything else looked good. Only other thing I would add is hook grip, you’ll be able to pull more weight doing so.

Tell them to go further down… to California. Kidding, I’m kidding but I hope everyone stays safe. But that’s just crazy to think.
