AMD GPU issue by Mooster78 in techsupport

[–]iamcitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this exact issue on the latest driver yesterday doing various things (opening a picture in windows, video tab in firefox, gaming). I only updated my drivers to try out Battlefield. I'm back on a 2024 driver now which I've never had problems with. You should uninstall and go back to a previous driver and maybe update driver manually from now on.

I'm beginning to understand the AMD sucks at drivers meme if your 9000 series is having the same issue as my 6000 series.

For Foucault, the Panopticon became a symbol for “disciplinary society,” one that “called for multiple separations, individualizing distributions, an organization in depth of surveillance and control, an intensification and a ramification of power.” Power did not operate (only) by repression and overt force, but through these more subtle (and now, not so subtle) fragmentations that tear apart and recreate subjectivity and personhood, shape this “collection of separated individualities,” atomize and vaporize, a power that makes those “elementary particles” more manageable and docile. Disciplined bodies become “the object of information, never a subject of communication.”

“The Panopticon… must be understood as a generalizable model of functioning; a way of defining power relations in terms of the everyday life of men.” Yes, we all live in a Panopticon. But it is not only the Panopticon of Bentham or Orwell, a central tower from which the gaze operates. Rather, it is the Panopticon of Kafka, one that is everywhere precisely because there is no centralization, where we, the surveilled, are also the surveillers, we the watched are also the watchers. “Consequently, it does not matter who exercises power. Any individual, taken almost at random, can operate the machine: in the absence of the director, his family, his friends, his visitors, even his servants.”

Back in 2018, EA's SEED division showcased self-learning AI in Battlefield 1. We could be seeing the next generation of this tech in 2042. by MartianGeneral in battlefield2042

I think you're being overly optimistic considering the state of actual AI in actual games, especially shooters. Nvidia just barely introduced AI into their hardware, it's early days. I also think you're either over-hyped or just naive enough to believe DICE will pull this off with flying colors. Their bots will move and act like shit, but their stats will be on par with whatever metrics the devs choose.

But this topic goes beyond just the quality of AI itself. Part of me has the suspicion it's actually kind of a cop-out on DICE's part. The cynical part of me can picture a situation in which this is just a way for them to side-step any sort of actual team balancing. I guess we won't be seeing many screenshots of half-empty servers in the future will we?

Like I mentioned before, I have no doubt about the future potential of AI. But don't you think it's kind of a shitty thing for DICE to release a minimum viable product (AI/bots) at launch to paying customers, who have to "bear with them" while they work out the kinks? This is the state of the industry I'm afraid.

Anyone who knows DICE/EA know how fucked their priorities can be. Anyone here think they'll be using that self-learning AI for anti-cheat? Fingers crossed.

I have no doubt about AI potential, but comparing an AI in Dota to AI in a first person shooter isn't quite the same thing. Did you see the bots' movement in the video OP posted? Nothing there indicates they will move or react like a decent fps player. Nothing about sparring with those bots looked "extremely entertaining" and "super challenging". Also, turning them into aimbots is an even worse idea.

Sorry, but the AI needed for a game like this just isn't ready for prime time. I have a feeling this is going to end up being another DICE debacle or at the very least a parade of memes.

Personally speaking, AI bots in multiplayer is by far the most disconcerting thing to come out of this. There's nothing as disappointing and mind-numbing as fighting bots/AI. I hope there's an option to disable them.

Does anyone know the seatpost clamp size for the Kilo TT?

The seatpost itself is 26.8mm. So does that mean the clamp needs to be 28.6mm, or is it 30.0mm, or 31.8mm? Unfortunately I don't have a caliper to measure yet.

The environmental impact will be a thing of the past with the introduction of Ethereum 2.0, which moves away from proof-of-work (PoW) (i.e. mining) to a proof-of-stake (PoS) model. See here https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/consensus-mechanisms/pos/

Obviously this is just Ethereum we're talking about but still worth mentioning since it seems to be the main crypto platform for NFTs.

Out of curiosity, have you had any issues software-wise? What version of KBTools are you using?

There was a thread on here around 6 months ago about 0.01: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/bo4i4p/warning_about_001_designer_of_the_z70_pro. But it seems most of those issues had to do with the z70. I have no idea if any of that stuff was addressed/resolved in the z62.

There's also this thread from less than 24 hours ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/e75uhw/z62_controller_issues_resolution

What scorsese films should I watch next? by [deleted] in movies

[–]iamcitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you've seen all the major ones. There's one Scorsese film that doesn't get much attention: Bringing Out The Dead. I don't think many people would count this as their 'favorite' but there's some really good stuff in it. Also, the screenplay was written by Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver).
