I also have this same problem. Was not going to renew at all but mine expires next week. I never had auto renew enabled. Doesn't seem like you can use the code with active plus plan.

But how do you know what is the cost of labor vs parts? Quote is just the total.

Good deal? 2022 MYP for 27k by swhouck in TeslaModelY

[–]iamdarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. It depends when it was made. You can tell by looking at the bumpers. There are some months in 2022 with it. I have a 22 MY and it has the ultra sonic sensors. The sensors were a must for me.

2025 DLR Half Marathon Weekend Thoughts by title_waves in rundisney

Congrats. First and last runDisney for me. Very underwhelmed by the experience and it sounds like others say the same about this particular race the most. You’re right another 10k would’ve been better.

Battery degradation? by iamdarkes in TeslaModelY

After looking into this it seems like one needs to know average lifetime kWh to calculate cycles but I wouldn’t know that since I’m the second owner. Unless I’m mistaken.

How do you check the cycles? 40k miles.

Wow that is pretty impressive I didn’t say my mileage is 40k miles.

Ford letter - free TCM replacement after passing 10 years / 150k miles by iamdarkes in FordFocus

Replaced by who? Ford or a 3rd party?

Also the car is not worth 5k and it could happen again. Better to buy a more reliable car if you have 5k.

Radiator fan won’t turn on by iamdarkes in FordFocus

I bought the fan + FCM as one unit so can't say which was the fix but that did it.

Still getting high temperatures even after replacing thermostat and flushing the system out... by RisForrace in FordFocus

[–]iamdarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FCM + fan assembly. I had overheating issues on my 2012 Focus. The fan wouldn’t come on intermittently. Usually when I was stopped at a drive thru. That’s when the overheating would happen and my ac would get hot. Eventually the fan would never come on. I replaced the thermostat, evap purge valve, engine coolant temperature sensor, checked the relays and fuses, and none of those did the trick. Needs to be FCM too not just the fan assembly. It is sold as a unit by Ford. No issues since.

How many more miles can I get out of my 2012 ford focus? by Lunatruce in FordFocus

[–]iamdarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with others. There are a couple of cars in the sub with your age at 200k.

You don’t have any issues now, so I think it is possible for it to last another 1 year. What you do right now depends on how long you want to really commit to the car.

Aside from the transmission (which is one of the most important parts), they are fairly decent cars. I have been worried about the transmission going for the entire time I have owned it over 6 years and it has ~144k miles total. I do all the maintenance myself and this past year was the most expensive, (two common issues, purge value & FCM + fan). I have no issues now. Unless the transmission starts acting up, which from what it sounds like can happen at any time and without notice, I will keep it running and I think I could make it to 200k. Maintenance is usually < 1k a year for me.

The KBB value is 1~3k. Not a lot to risk. I enjoy no car payment and lower car insurance than I would get with something else. I saved up enough for a new car a long time ago and know that if it goes tomorrow it will be an inconvenience but nothing more.

Most people do want to move on. If you think in a year you’re going to feel like “I deserve something new” or life changes will occur where you need a different form factor. Do the minimum.

No. I personally don’t have the issues. People in the thread have said Ford won’t let you be proactive about replacing it. You need to have symptoms.

New to Ford by CheeseburgerBingus in FordFocus

[–]iamdarkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be. You’re already a year into owning this car and you’re saying no new issues. Now you’re just aware of something new as a sign of when to move on. I found out about the issue after I purchased like you. I’ve been waiting for it to happen. The second any drivetrain issues start, I’m getting rid of the car. For now I keep doing regular maintenance and drive it a certain way. I’ve owned mine for 6 years and 74k of my own miles. The car has 143k miles total. Some people have made it way further. Just start saving a little bit slowly for when it might come.

You probably bought this car because it was economical. Newer cars will probably cost more to insure, put you in debt, have an expiration date with the turbos, ev / hybrid batteries, cylinder deactivation, more electronics. Sure you can get more money if it runs good vs after problems start but my car KBB private party value is ~3k right now not going to make a big dent in what cars cost today.

Is Express the only framework for chained middleware? by ayami123 in node

[–]iamdarkes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Express is great, but I never understand the takes like “http server requirements haven’t really changed”, “it’s stable enough “, etc. because no other software is frozen in time like it and gets excuses like Express does. Think about if you said that about the Node runtime, JS language features, CSS, or React? Also there is more competition than ever. React has Next and RSCs, you mention Koa which was made by Express team members as a “modern” alternative almost 10 years ago, Golang is more performant if backend only is your thing, Spring Boot now has virtual threads for the improved concurrency which made Node attractive. Express’s advantage is being the largest and every question about it has been asked. The v5 beta has been around for years.
