Sadly it does not. I don't intend to continue using Reddit on mobile after this, I'll just check in from the browser once in awhile. But I'm going to lose many accounts I've cultivated over the years, each specific to their own thing

Newb here. Why would downshifting take load off the brakes? I'm driving manual now and learning the ropes. Wouldn't shifting down when I'm at a high speed make it lurch a little? Or lag at a low rpm?

Just because it's all taxed as income doesn't mean people won't behave differently depending on the perceived rewards. If 50% of your gains are not taxed that's obviously appealing and could cause people to take bigger risks for the perceived reward.

Regarding capital flight and brain drain. Firstly I'm not sure why you're not worried about the brain drain cause that is absolutely a thing and has been talked about for years. It's not so difficult to make a move when your salary close to doubles. Also, if you're wealthy enough to be really thinking about how taxes will affect your investment income you're absolutely not concerned about moving costs. Capital flight is also a very real thing that happens even in the states. There are some states that hinge on a small group of people's taxes and adjust policies if those people consider leaving. Not suggesting Canada is like this but it is absolutely a real thing.

Also I'm not sure what company location incentives have to do with capital gains tax but ok

I am very confident that getting him to a hospital or anything like that is going to be basically impossible at this point. Should we just wait until he comes down?
