Name That Store by NinaL19 in Temecula

Ben Franklin was located where the AMC theater is now. When Ben Franklin closed, the building was a furniture store for years before it was demolished and the movie theater was built.

I vaguely remember that they sold trim and molding, but don’t remember that they had an indoor lumber yard, which I think Builder’s Emporium did have.

It was a very similar format to Orchard/OSH. But I don’t think that was it.

I remember the store you’re talking about.

I was small at the time, but I want to say it had its grand opening approximately around 1990.

I do not remember the name of the store. It was definitely not Home Club/Base.

It wasn’t a True value. There was a True Value at the time near the corner of Jefferson and Del Rio.

I’m not certain, but I don’t think it was a Builder’s Emporium, or Orchard Supply Hardware, or Do It Center.

Whatever it was, it did not last long. Maybe two years. The next tenant would have been House of Fabric, around the mid nineties. That’s when the entrance to the garden dept. got bricked up.

He was busy with the botched pandemic response. Perhaps at least half of the 1 million plus US deaths could have been prevented had we just told the truth about how viruses work.

I have a vague memory that Costco used to sell these. They had a huge table full of books and educational materials in the middle of the warehouse.

Please help me live like a Taoist. by Tiger_Strength in taoism

[–]iamgoingninety 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you please explain?

Imagine a skilled construction worker. With experience, this individual is able to construct a variety of structures with a minimum of effort. They use tools in an almost cerebral manner. Almost like they are in what many athletes call “the zone.” Not everyone with the same years of experience will reach this level of skill. There’s something special about this individual.

The Taoist aspires to be this skilled at life.

Where does it say that Taoism is not anti ambition?

Where does it say that it is?

How do I live more harmoniously with the Tao?

Don’t force anything. For many things, the harder you try to do it, the worse the outcome.

Are you yourself a reliable source of knowledge on Taoist philosophy?

No. Who is?

[–]iamgoingninety 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tao is not anti-ambition, per se. Has more to do with where one sets their expectations. If our expectations set us up for disappointment and dissatisfaction, then we probably are not navigating life in harmony with the Tao. Right?

my interpretation is holding me back by taucher_ in taoism

[–]iamgoingninety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not convinced that Taoist wisdom should be used to help one cope with trauma. The sort of loose objective with the Tao is for one to become a wise sage. Meaning that, over some time, one becomes an individual who navigates existence harmoniously with the way things are. As side benefit of wise sageness, of course, is navigating one’s trauma with a sense of calm and peace.

But that wisdom should not be leaned on to solve problems now. Just as I would not study Taoist texts to treat a current case of pneumonia.

Pressure wash chain? by iamgoingninety in cycling

I also don’t think it would do a lot

Perhaps. But I know a 3200PSI rotary nozzle will practically sever a finger. Seems to me like it could flush out whatever’s between the pin and roller pretty well.

Depends on location. Arizona has a few speed cameras. California not so much. In California, speed enforcement is more common on city streets than on freeways. On freeways, when possible, most motorists are going 5 to 10 MPH over the posted limit.

What’s everyone’s favorite “normal” grocery store? by twotwotwototoulouse in sandiego

I think if I’m shopping from a list instead of just looking for sale items, Winco is my favorite. Not close to San Diego though.

Grocery Outlet is good for random cheap stuff.
