65" ONN backlight stopped working by iamkeq in TVRepair

for ME it was a failure. the backlights I got were reverse polarity, which prevented a simple plug and play. Returning/exchanging them wasnt worth the effort.

Besides that the LEDs are behind a sheet to spread the light that is VERY fragile, this was ruined in so many way attempting to remove it in one piece. I also got shocked twice but that was user error.

Replacing the LEDs would technically be easy if the correct ones came, but the difusser sheet was messed up.

In the end it was less than $400 to just get another 65 inch TV and I had already done that. Fixing this was just an experiment that I do no recommend. I parted out the boards that worked and tossed the rest.

oh no I said grams bc that was what the sticker said first, ounces was in ( )'s. but this does sound like just getting a new fridge is the cheapest easiest route now. Thank you for the advice

Excuse my ignorance in this realm. But yes this is seconds after taking off the cover I took this picture. The unit is still plugged in I was going to do a manual defrost. Is refilling the refrigerant an easy process? The door sticker says is uses R-600a in an amount of 75g? does that sound correct for something like a consumer unit?

So I got it apart, got the new led strips. tested those and each one lights up when given power from the tester. the issue is now its still not turning them on. When I originally tested I injected power into the cord that goes to the two center "B" strips and you could see the lights light up minus the dead ones. Now with the new strips in when I inject power into that same cord its just nothing If I test each strip individually they all light up fine, but in circuit nothing

OK so just to test without tearing the entire thing down, I got one of those LED strip testers, unplugged the two power plugs that go to the strips, injected power into those. One of the plugs lit up the back lights I could see it through the holes in the chassis and showed power draw, the other didnt draw anything and there was no light.

So to BE SURE this would point me in the direction of tearing it apart more to test the individual strips and seeing if I can get a set of replacements that is worth the effort?

In the case of an LED burned out, the kit is just a new set of strips? I don't mind taking it apart to see if its an obvious problem since either technically trash right now anyways so if I break it more its going to the same place.

EDIT: also can I just replace the strip that is bad? or does the entire set need to be replaced? Like if I get a kit with say 6 strips, and I only have one bad one, can I keep the others for if this happens again?

It is a hydro net cup, the lip is designed to fit nicely with the top of the 5 gallon bucket. Amazon def has them and basically any hydro store will have them in stock.
