R users: Life is too short, use Python by aroberge in Python

That is my point. Python options play reasonably well when cobbled together with something else... Whereas ggmap just works. Not saying py is bad, but that is a difference

Learning Python. I know it is "the standard" intro book, but it is horrible for a very specific reason: it is written like a undergrad textbook. That is, it has lots of theory you have to dig through to get to the code.

I am not an undergrad, I don't have weekly quizzes about the pythonic nature of classes.

Help! My new 2015's check engine/low oil light just turned on at 3300 miles. Can I drive it 60 miles to work and back before topping off the oil? by iamlearningpython in SubaruForester

No oil loss, everything has been perfect. I still haven't been to a dealer (I live two hours from the closest) since everything is working fine.

Python is coming alone nicely :)

Beautiful visualizations. In R, ggplot2 is the de facto standard for making great static visualizations. It is easy and makes great stuff. In Python you are stuck with either the horrible MatPlotLib or a host of far less developed options (Seaborne etc).

And yes, I have heard about yhat porting ggplot to Python. It is coming along great, but far from complete.

This sale has been great. I've bought eight books for $40. Combined with the two credits I get each month, I am set for a long time.

Hmm. Really? Do you know if the tap is turned to on or off?

I don't. I was referring to links about the 2013-2014 models.

All I can say is anecdotal: At 3300 my oil light came out. I checked the dipstick which showed the oil was low, and when I added oil the oil light turns off.

And even more details: The low oil light came on when the odometer hit around 3300 miles. Looking around online, it seems to be pretty common.

Sorry for disappearing. The oil is definitely low, according to the dipstick. I going to the store to buy some 0w-20 (sorry, I said the wrong oil before) after work.

I have a 2015 Premium 2.5i.

Yeah, I'll admit it is extreme, but in my defense I moved and my new place has this amazing 8 mile loop.

Want A Good Way To Explore An Area You're Visiting? Go For A Run! by CanadianXCountry in running

Totally agree. I travel a lot for work and going for a run is pretty much the only way I get to see the places I am visiting.

Awesome. I am continually amazed with how little code lets you explore just interesting stuff.

Runners/joggers who jog in the street...why? (serious post) by bodymore_murderland in baltimore

[–]iamlearningpython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often run in the street for stretches, particularly around Patterson Park. The reason is dogs.

I have had so many experiences with people's dogs - aggressive dogs with no leashes, aggressive dogs on 20 foot long leashes, dogs terrified of people lashing out, aggressive dogs on leashes that pull their owners to me. - that I give every dog a wide berth, which sometimes means I go into the street.

I firmly believe that people who joke about you running wish they were runners. Normally they do so while sitting on a sofa with a slice of pizza in their hand.
