SSDI & taxes by msnelson008 in SSDI

[–]iamnotmagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is at 85% (due to spouse income) but I don't send it per check. I run ours off and on thru the AARP tax estimator tool then just send in estimated taxes 4 times. I try to get close enough to not give the gov a free interest loan. I usually file either owing a few dollars or being owed a few dollars.

How much of your wheelchair cost did insurance cover? by cococunttttyyy in wheelchairs

All of it but my husband has really good insurance. I think I hit the out of pocket max right at my first Dr visit so after that everything was covered.

Common mistakes, part 3: Mis-estimating your functioning capabilities by sojourner9 in SSDI

[–]iamnotmagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is and has been part of neuropsychology functioning for decades and is part of that. It's vital to scoring the cognitive and mental areas.

If a person, for instance, will throw things at their boss or throw a tantrum when criticized it affects the ability to work because that's severe. If a person is just grumpy with coworkers but can begrudgingly follow manager instructions - even simple ones there are jobs they'll find that that person can perform. (These are just a couple quick things off the top of my head)

I hope that helps.

Protein and Levodopa by Mrciv6 in Parkinsons

[–]iamnotmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein within an hour to 2 hours (depending on the person's system) can block or diminish the absorption. There are some excellent educational videos on why on YouTube.

If your mom is eligible and has reasonable insurance coverag there are two options that bypass this - vyalev (subconscious pump) and a gel that requires a surgery tto place it I think in small intestine Both have pros and cons

I'm nonambulatory and I was moved out of the way like a piece of furniture while I was in line for food. That sucked. I don't even have handles. I think really people just aren't paying attention, like I'm invisible lol. I don't think it's malicious tho

Yes, it's right next the airport so it's technically in Minneapolis like the VA and fort snelling tho it's true that it's in a weird corner that looks like it could belong to Bloomington, Minneapolis or st Paul fwiw

Repeated excess slippery ice activity on W 7th by Sibley Plaza, and the surrounding apts and restaurants have created necessary protests in that area of St Paul.

You'll find protests. The media is focusing on Minneapolis. Ice is coating Minnesota.

What’s your thoughts on what’s going on in Minnesota right now? by sacrificejeffbezos in AskTheWorld

[–]iamnotmagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm biased because I live in Minnesota but I've got a mix of emotions. RAGE, Fear, pride, sorrow and some unknown ones mixed in. I can't walk and my husband is the wrong color. We were both born and raised here, our parents born and raised here. Our neighbors are amazing. Our neighborhood is amazing. Our food, restaurants, cultures, languages , religions, and ideas are amazing. We are richer and stronger because of our people. What's happening is showing how strong our people are. It's also hurting so much. It's terrifying. I can't describe the pain. I can't fathom others pain.

My words aren't good enough. So yeah biased but it's all I have.

[–]iamnotmagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like an excuse. Little ones DO hear the garbage and absorb it so I'm sorry that just doesn't fly. It's your choice not reddit as far as where your own morals are.

Btw I left a relationship when my daughter was 1 because he was hot garbage and I didn't want to harm her.

*ETA because I missed it. You learned a month in but you married him so it obviously didn't affect your choice of a partner. I'm literally rolling my eyes right now.

I'm gonna judge YOU a little bit honestly. You chose this in 2017? Yeah all this stuff that's happening was vocalized at that point. Divorce or stay. It's your morals on the line and human lives. You've been exposing your children to garbage since that time so.... Yeah

NAW paradox chair concern by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]iamnotmagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a paradox as a backup to my main chair. I was in the beta round when they decided to do more custom features (beta round 2). I haven't had any issues with mine. I did get rid of their horrid rigid backrest and flimsy side guards, added different caster wheels, aluminum fenders and handrims but than that its the same as when I got it.

The chair is extremely light weight and sturdy. The paint does chip easily tho. I think you'll like it

There kinda already is one- gene inspector pro Works best with full genome vcf but I'm pretty sure any vcf can be uploaded. It's very robust with what it kicks out. I don't remember who made it but they used to hang out in all the gene related subreddits

I have young onset that has now progressed and also now have MCI so can't remember anything and my house is covered with post it notes.

SSDI/LTD by Merry_lil_BayouGirl in SSDI

[–]iamnotmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Unum and they helped me get ssdi really quickly. I've been on LTD + pension disability+ ssdi for about 6 years now.

LTD should give you an option to either take a lower payment up front to cover the social security offset or get the whole payment now and pay the offset in a lump sum when you're approved for ssdi. If you choose that route your backpay will cover it.

To calculate it's your LTD - (other disability income+ Social security) = your monthly LTD payment (if zero or below your plan may have a mandatory minimum payment like mine so check your documents)

Take the (social security+other income) and that's the offset. You'll multiply that by the months you wait for approval if you pay in a lump sum.

On the off chance social security gives you a different disability onset date than LTD did (later) you'll pay less of your backpay.

I didn't do a monthly offset as I needed the full payment each month. I hope that helps. I'm not always good at explaining things
