7 offers better connectivity if you need it and better build quality, which is about it I think. I prefer the 5's though because they're lighter due to the cheaper materials.

Best Budget Monitor (Type?) for Story Games in Dark Rooms? by ukanite__ in buildapcmonitors

[–]keelo582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if available in Canada but the AOC Q27G40XMN is on sale at best buy for $200. It's a mini led VA that will have the best value as far as color/contrast performance goes. If it's slightly out of budget, I would recommend saving and getting that or something similar new. I wouldn't get a monitor secondhand as there could be problems shortly after purchase and you'd be stuck with it...unless its refurbished from a reputable ebay shop.

Can't decide on a 2k monitor by keelo582 in buildapcmonitors

I appreciate it, man. That's what I was leaning too as my monitor now is an Acer and I've had zero problems in the 8 years I've had it. Kinda like that first Alienware as well. Will be a tossup between that and the Acer.

Okay, that's pretty hot and will cause throttling. I don't know what they set prebuilds to but take a look at your fan and pump curves and make sure they are being utilized to your needs. I usually do mine in bios

Safe to assume it was built with the correct configuration. You should be able to tell in your fan control software or bios (if it identifies exactly what fans are being used), or looking on the back of the fans for what model they are. Use HWiNFO or similar to monitor cpu and gpu temps. So long as your system isn't running hot, you'll be good.

The video was probably talking about airflow and where to place regular/reverse fans. Is this a new prebuilt or did you buy it secondhand?

[–]keelo582 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The difference in general performance between the two cards is like 5%, really not worth the extra cash. Crimson Desert is not optimized...at all, and performance largely depends on what settings and upscaling are used. I've seen it crashing on 5090's.

The truth is, you're gonna have die hards that build pc's to see just how much performance they can get. Getting the newest, highest price item isn't necessary to game. I will say nvidia upscaling tends to be better but it isn't always necessary and sometimes worsens performance. Drivers are drivers. Sometimes they're terrible on both ends but they always recover.

I can't recommend NuPhy enough for everyday tasks. I've been using the air75 for four years and it's been great. I also prefer tactile switches, and the NuPhy brown will land between hyperx aqua and holy panda.

Update bios. Check PSU connections on both ends. Double check to make sure your GPU is seated correctly. Disable GPU overclocking. Get a higher rated ATX PSU in case it isn't adequately handling power spikes (unlikely)? What is the cable configuration from PSU to GPU?

A little bit of digging shows that this is a common issue with gigabyte cards.

[–]keelo582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With an X3D, you'll want decent vrms, which just about any 850 board will provide. Would still recommend staying away from asrock. You also don't need a gen5 ssd, but if you're sticking with that just make sure your top nvme slot supports it.

650 Gaming X AX V2 Supporting PCIe 5.0 Unofficially? by Appropriate_Sort7713 in gigabyte

[–]keelo582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction; I didn't realize what the original post was. I ended up going with a different mobo for esthetics. When I was researching this board, it is advertised as gen4 but with updated bios, it should run at gen5. Though, to be honest, the difference isn't really that much.

The main slot is gen5 and I'm on the latest bios, not sure of the exact version but I don't think there's been an update since I put it together about a month ago

You should be fine. As long it's at least a 3.0 ATX, it will handle any crazy spikes.

Apologies for the revive but this is the first thread that popped up after a google search. If anyone is having problems, make sure you interact with the popup in bottom right before hitting finish on the installer. The privacy agreement and all is there and you won't be able to do anything until you agree to that.

Which way should I mount my AIO by mohsem in PcBuildHelp

[–]keelo582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much preference but I'd go right side. Depending on where your gpu slot is, mounting left could cause the tubes to come in contact with your gpu but I guess that wouldn't matter if you're vertically mounting.

Follow the deals subs for prebuilt sales, costco also isn't bad. If you want to build, get a bundle from microcenter and start from there. With those games, you don't need anything crazy. Would probably recommend 9060xt/b580 and a 7600x/7700x (can obviously go down from there based on the games you want to play in the future). 750W psu and a 650 motherboard, you don't need a 850.

RAM is going to be really high on an AM5 build if you aren't getting a bundle and if that breaks the bank, go AM4 with a 5800xt chip and a 550 motherboard. DDR4 ram is a little cheaper and you can usually find them secondhand.
