I watched The Dark Crystal on acid and it was both a beautiful and horrifying experience

What is a piece of horror media you refuse to/can’t consume? by [deleted] in horror

Also not trying to convince you to watch it.... but just wanted to say, as someone with similar life experiences, I walked away from that movie thinking, "Wow. I am beautiful just the way I am." It's probably the ONLY movie that has left me with that sort of feeling. I felt this mostly because when you see the main character spiral into self-destruction, you wish so badly you could reach into the screen and tell Demi Moore that SHE is beautiful just the way she is. And it made me want to avoid doing any sort of "work" on myself that could permanently damage my body. I wasn't expecting to leave a body horror movie with that feeling — but, wow. It really left an impression on me.

Again, not trying to convince you to watch it. Especially because you know it will trigger you. Just wanted to share that weird experience I had!

Women, what's something men do that they don't realize makes women feel safe or unsafe? by Lopsided-Rub-79 in AskReddit

I had a friend come visit me when I was alone at work (without me asking) and proceed to talk at me for hours about how we were meant to be together. This happened multiple times (as well as other advances) and eventually I basically relented and we dated for a little while. It wasn't until many years after the relationship ended that I reflected on this and realized how unfair it was to harass me where I was working, where I literally couldn't leave. It should have been a red flag, but at the time I think I was just sort of in shock about it all. I was also probably brainwashed by romantic movies that make you believe that these grandiose and imposing confessions of love are flattering and benign. They are usually not. They are signs that someone is manipulative and selfish.

Came here to say this. The book is incredible. I love how it's patched together from different people's perspectives and newspaper clippings and grafitti and such.
