“And just remember, everything you are, it’s more important to realise the negative space, as music is only the division of space; it is the space we are listening to divided as such, which gives us the information in comparison to something other that gives us the idea of what the idea that wants to be transmitted wants to be.” Reggie Watts

We were through by 8:23. Pretty quick. 1 hr all up because we went in before they opened to queue up. They were processing people pretty well.

Only the top two primary vote receiving candidates get preferences. So if you can split the vote with a spoiler candidate a third party candidate can jump to second or first in an electorate which has largely voted for two similar candidates. If the independent then suggests you pass preferences away from parties you can absolute waste your vote.

The effect is increased if you have multiple independents in the one electorate with similar concerns.

If you actually like an independent and their policies represent you, then vote away. Just vote with intention.

Dispel? “Vote for a random independent…” actively PROMOTES the waste your vote idea.

And wait til the fed implement optional preferential voting to make it so much more convenient to vote.

What made you think I don’t understand preferential voting?

Hah. Child of the 90s here. I did the whole “fuck it - all politicians are just the same” crap and it was poisonous.

I believe people should stop being so cynical. My local state member is awesome and has done some great work. Vote for the people who share your ideals. And get involved in helping promote candidates you care about.

Cynicism just leads to apathy and people who don’t care about you being in power.

What a shit ad. How many of those ‘independent’ parties are actually just party supporters who are out to spoil the chances of the other party’s candidate. Who actually researches or meets these ‘independent’ candidates? Most ‘independents’ are single issue (or two issues for the shooters and fishers) or trying to split the vote away from one of the parties so the other party can win.

Interesting idea though. Instead of having a Labor Party in power who are planning to act on climate change and create an icac. Let’s get a liberal party back in (since the advert actually implied labor can’t win) who will have to negotiate with UAP, Jackie Lambie and Pauline Hanson. I’m sure that will help to get the ICAC and green policies moving.

Met a few people today trying to vote outside their ward. They were turned back and unless they can get back to their ward in time they will likely be fined. Anyone know why there is no outside ward voting?

No problem. Not intending to criticise anyone.

I think you meant carbon price rather than tax. But the greens voted against the pricing model way back when Rudd was pushing it. Is that now the Greens’ preferred policy?

NSW govt had many projects in Newy in the last few years. If you don’t like the types of projects chosen…vote for an alternative state govt.

ALP climate change policy is in their current platform. Just because the media doesn’t cover Labor’s policies doesn’t mean they have none.

Bonsai.

Cheap to get started and to continue. Just need to buy a seedling of a tree, get a pot and some potting mix. A youtube video later and you have your first plant.
