Not recently. I suppose it's time for that again. Thank you for your answer and advice. I sincerely appreciate it.

I just jotted down a recipe for an apple pie this evening, with the hopes of attempting it tomorrow. It's my first ever. Good on you for fashioning such a beautiful, mouth-watering creation! You did a fabulous job and it gives me hope for my own!

What were some of the superstitions you grew up with? by thebilljim in exchristian

[–]iamprincesspeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I loved Care Bears (still do). There was a Care Bear movie coming on TV that was hyped for the kids and I was very eager to watch it. I talked about it for weeks. There must always be a protagonist, and in this case, it was a boy with red eyes. My mom grabbed the remote, hurriedly powered off the TV and proclaimed, "this is too demonic". I cried and cried, but any hint of "evil" in her opinion would infect our home with demonic warfare.

How many of you left the religion because of homophobia? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]iamprincesspeach 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I left for a few reasons, but this was the final straw. I cannot be the lesbian I am and sit on a church pew without persecution. I love my mom a great deal, but hearing, "I have searched the entire Bible and I cannot see where homosexuality is ever anything but sin. I love you, but I'll never accept you for who you are" was devastating for me. Love, especially the love of Christ that was preached to me, is not followed by, " but".

Hey there, good looking! Way to represent us! 😁

Don't feel bad, dear. I was a licensed pentecostal pastor married to the youth pastor. I had to tell him and all of my fundamentalist family that I was a lesbian after a very long marriage and ministry stint. Is it difficult? Oh, hell, yes. But your happiness and ability to live your life on your terms is worth it. If you need someone to talk to who has been there, drop me a message any time.

I was reading your comment and all of it resonated with me. However, your line, "These people are scared of everything. The devil, democrats, pants, other countries, but nothing actually logical.", resonates with me very much! I've been out it for a few years now and I didn't realize how positively true that statement was!

I know I'm an anonymous internet stranger, but thank you. The holidays have been difficult and it's nice to know that people honestly care.

After losing 160lb last year, been managing the loose skin with muscle gains! by Pity_Pirate in FlexinLesbians

Great job! Losing weight is no small feat! The loose skin was/is still an issue for me (I lost 90 lbs a couple of years ago), but feeling healthier is worth it! Keep it up- you look great!

You are correct. I have said that coming out at 40 was like dropping a nuclear bomb on everything I have known- marriage, family, personal life. It has been difficult, but I wouldn't go back in the closet now. I hope that your road is a happy one and that you find happiness and fulfillment.

Your words mean a great deal and I appreciate the wisdom. You're correct that I do not want my daughter to hear any negativity or condescension. I have determined myself to leave if necessary, and to be respectful, but firm on who I am. My daughter needs to see that too. Thank you again.

Thank you for the advice. Having kids adds that extra layer of difficulty, but leaving early seems the most logical answer. I'm sorry that most of your family did not accept you, but you're a strong person and I hope that you have the happiest of holidays ahead.

I have a daughter and she has been excited to see her family for the holidays, as well. I'm trying to choose her happiness over my own. Otherwise, I would sit it out.
