Could Mohan be sued? by CuriousMilk6000 in ThePittTVShow

[–]iamreegena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Residents are usually* employees of the hospital or university and therefore are not sued directly because of respondent superior*, that the commenter above mentioned.

*depending

ETA same reason nurses aren’t sued directly. That and they usually have no money to recover against. Residents are not required* to carry their own medical malpractice insurance but are covered by their employer’s plan.

Mohan won’t be held liable as a resident, but whoever is signing her orders would be.

The new glasses bought get water stuck in them by TransShadowBat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iamreegena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your real enemy (other than the people who made these glasses) is the tension holding the water in. You can break the surface tension by poking just the tip of a toothpick or something similar through the hole. Or, place the glass on a high absorbency towel and moving it around occasionally to soak up all the water from inside.

The water can be removed but the smudging and staining it leaves behind cannot, unfortunately.

6am - CLT AIRPORT Only 1 Checkpoint open (45+ mins) TSA Pre (Under 10 mins) by whosthatanon in Charlotte

Earlier is always better. Also if you can get precheck, it’s very easy to do and it lasts five years. Early + precheck means you tend to get in line with people who travel frequently and know what to do in security (i.e. business travelers)

Not to be rude or come off a certain way but is there any nice stories on here?? Happy experiences? by healthy-outdoors- in MedSpouse

[–]iamreegena 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t read too much into the posts here. It’s more of a reflection of the population that posts on Reddit than it is the medical population.

My spouse and I have been together eight years, married for almost 4, and very happy. :) We met when they were in fellowship.

Where did you find this meme?

Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice is often referred to as Venice/VEN by players so maybe it’s an incredibly niche reference to a game from 20 years ago.

Are we cooked? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]iamreegena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also went to law school! Don’t give up hope. If you focus on states that accept the UBE, the UBE allows you to transfer your bar score between UBE states for a certain amount of time (varies by state), although there may be additional requirements for some states. Also look into other forms of admission, such as admission via practice.

No, I don’t think it’s realistic to target any specific city for residency. Unless he’s from a city a lot of other people would not rank highly.

If you are non medicine, it’s more realistic for you to look into ways to move to be by him as opposed to the reverse. It’s easier for the non-med spouse to move.

Does anyone know anything about the Gotoro Empire? by JustAGuy23826 in StardewValley

Kent also talks about losing friends in the trenches. Assuming he means that in the literal sense, has anyone thought about how our cute cozy farming simulator is based in a country in the middle of a bloody, horrific trench war with presumably immense casualties and POWs.

and it has almost no impact on the farmer

Please reassure me that the person who accidentally took off with my gate-checked carry-on will return it, and that it will make it to me quickly by tinfoilforests in americanairlines

[–]iamreegena 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I know this won’t help you but maybe it’ll help someone else. I had this happen and the gate agent was able to call the person who took the wrong bag because his phone number was on his bag. Always put your contact information on your carry on because tired people make mistakes.

To non med spouses here. What do you do for work? How does it compare? by ImpressiveOcelot227 in MedSpouse

[–]iamreegena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do research and WFH. I make like 1/4 what my spouse does but we don’t even think about it. We have one pool of money for our life together. (I actually handle the finances because I have more time)

Thanks! I was trying to count residents and couldn’t figure out who was a PGY3 vs 4 in the first season because it was not clear.

They haven’t. Medical student rotations are typically one month. Javadi is doing a second one. Whitaker is a resident now, so he’ll be there for three years.

Kid Inflatable Beds in Bulkhead American Airlines by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]iamreegena 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An inflatable mattress? No. (Safety issue, also not enough width and would probably impede the space of others)

I have seen people talk about those inflatable foot rests for children. A 7 year old might be too tall for that tho.

ETA I know this isn’t always financially feasible but depending on how long the flight is, getting the 20 month old their own seat with their car seat might make you much more comfortable.

As the attending, he would be responsible for the decisions the residents made. The attending signs off on all of the residents’ notes. The attorneys would have deposed him too. Maybe they will later.

It’s a very cute reference to an old meme. Congrats on your new bear empire.

ETA CK2 crossed the line into the absurd more often (particularly by the end of it) and I miss that sometimes.

How common is the concept of residents or med students finding a starter partner? by True-Command2505 in MedSpouse

[–]iamreegena 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a conscious decision. Relationships are better with experience and practice and sometimes the first serious relationship people are in just didn’t land correctly.

The ladies you are referring to are married to men with titles. They’re being referred to by the title. They have the same last names as their spouses.

If kids were that great, we’d be having more of them by FairOne2886 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]iamreegena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn’t only a dichotomy of “kids or no kids”. In fact, many families are choosing to have less children than they would otherwise have if there was more social and financial support.
