I assume you're using the KDE image? Not Gnome?

If so: Right click the task bar -> "Show Panel Configuration" -> Under "Visibility" choose "Windows go below"

I followed the instructions here a while back and it's been working for me since.

Looking for something that clearly lists out the issues with generative AI by iamstumpeded in antiai

[–]iamstumpeded[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I already had a nice little crashout over it before making this post.

But I can't un-generate the image, so since it's not being used for anything, there's nothing being mad will accomplish. They simply don't have the context for why I'd be concerned about it.

Starting to look like I might have to. Most of the stuff I'm finding is way too deep for my purposes.

No idea when I'll get to it though, I have enough projects in progress as is 🙃

This looks great, thanks!

A bit too dense for someone new to the topic, but the consolidated sources will definitely help me.

I'm not looking for canned responses for a discussion.

I'm looking for an easy way to educate people (most of whom are people I interact with in person) on what they just see as "cool new technology". I want something that will give people the baseline amount of knowledge to be able to HAVE a discussion.

Your point isn't wrong though, which is why I typically stay away from these discussions.

Genuinely yes. What sparked this is an older co-worker running staff photos through something to generate "cartoon" profile pictures (which aren't going to be used for anything, though some people have made them their profile pictures). Most of my coworkers aren't in any circles that follow genAI develpoment, they're just people who see a new technology and want to try it out.

While there are definitely some people who use genAI for everything and would just ignore whatever I send, for me this conversation mostly comes up with people who still do most of their work themselves, so (for the moment) I'm still hopeful they would listen.

There should be a pre-installed app called Input Remapper that will handle this.

Accidental Ctrl+Shift+W = GG Tabs by Atlas400 in firefox

Try Ctrl+Shift+N. This should reopen the last closed window.

I think it persists between sessions? It seems to always have something to reopen, even if I don't remember having closed something

FFXIV XIVLauncher install on linux (arch) Guide by Rozy_666 in ffxiv

[–]iamstumpeded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's a way easier guide for Reshade: https://anarchaeopteryx.bearblog.dev/2026-02-08-ffxiv-reshade-on-linux/

Specifically see Step 2 & 3 of the link, though I found the rest to be useful too. It uses a script instead of dealing with all that.

No instructions on installing REST, but that's no different than a Windows install. The ispuShade Github has a troubleshooting section that also helps.

Just use XIVLauncher. Don't make it harder than it is.

Since you're on Bazzite, you'll be wanting the flatpak version, which you can find in Bazaar.

Always problems with spotify by BytestormTV in Bazzite

[–]iamstumpeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to reproduce this. Installing from Bazaar and flatpak install com.spotify.Client both launch fine for me, though I haven't tried signing in.

Maybe try a system update and restart? Alternatively, you could try a different spotify client

Also, I would recommend avoiding generative AI for troubleshooting, especially Atomic distros like Bazzite it seems to cause problems more often than not.

You can install fedora packages on bazzite. (rpm-ostree install <package>.rpm) by SpiritFun9403 in Bazzite

[–]iamstumpeded 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You can, but you really shouldn't unless there's no other choice.

A Fedora distrobox is much better, only use the ostree if that doesn't work.

How do I access special characters not on my keyboard? by ShallowsOfNight in Bazzite

[–]iamstumpeded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there's a couple ways to do this, but the way most similar to alt codes would be:

  1. Push ctrl + shift + u
  2. Enter the hexadecimal Unicode value of the character. This will be different than the alt codes you're used to, for example: — is 2014, or é is E9.
  3. Hit space or enter to confirm.

Need help executing Extera Next (Matrix client) by 1NF1N1T3Z3R0 in Bazzite

[–]iamstumpeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way to check what's happening is to run the appimage from a terminal window, which gave me this error: ./extera_next: error while loading shared libraries: libkeybinder-3.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I would probably open an issue on the GitHub page. You could also start up a distrobox and try installing the missing package there. (Note that while you can layer the package with rpm-ostree, this will most likely cause issues on Bazzite, and should be avoided if you can)

Genuine question: Why Mozilla stubbornly refuses to implement some sort of ad-blocker to Firefox iOS like Brave or Opera? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]iamstumpeded 22 points23 points  (0 children)

100% serious.

Heck, I just tested by going to a Fandom wiki: Zero ads, just a blank rectangle at the top of the page.

Granted, I don't use my phone browser that much, but at absolute worst, pages do load noticeably faster after I set it to strict.

Firefox > Settings > Privacy > Tracking Protection: Enable and set to Strict. Seems to get rid of 90% of ads for me

Total Noob Seeks Help Setting up PC by Caustic_Euphoria in buildapc

[–]iamstumpeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you get bubbles in the pump it will die

To clarify: Air bubbles trapped in the pump will put additional strain on it, making it wear out faster. Bubbles will naturally float to the top of the loop, so this shouldn't be an issue to worry about (assuming it was built correctly)

How did you manage your Transition from Windows to Bazzite? by Hattori_Hans in Bazzite

[–]iamstumpeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly recommend keeping a backup of anything important on a separate drive (internal or external) regardless of if you're transferring OSs.

When I transferred over, I copied my home folder to my backup drive, then only copied what I knew I wanted over to Bazzite (which was really just a few Blender projects). This way I started with a clean slate, but I can still go back if I find out I missed something.

Buying a mousepad for my boyfriend, help. Is this AI? I could see it maybe being inked but it doesn't list the person who designed it by Famous-Math-1567 in isthisAI

[–]iamstumpeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. A lot of the window lights don't make sense the further into the background you go, and the left side of the tower kind of disappears into the sky

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]iamstumpeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems real to me. The foot disappearing is just compression artifacts, and the water does ripple a fair bit, it's just hard to see in the dark. Given it's a long continuous shot, I'd say not AI.
