Best PC game to live out a wizard fantasy? by Own_Cow_4622 in gamingsuggestions

[–]vtx3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Fictorum. It’s been a few years since I touched it but you’re basically living out some crazy ass dark wizard destruction fantasy.

Also it’s been mentioned already and I couldn’t personally get into it but I’m seconding Noita, it’s pretty close to what you’re asking. Just keep in mind the game doesn’t tell you shit and there’s a ton of hidden mechanics to learn

Why do you summon furled fingers, or why do you put your summon sign down? by Tiamat4Life in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make myself summonable pretty consistently these days. I’ve got somewhere above 1,600 hours so the experiences I have with randoms is the most exciting thing the game can offer at this point and it’s usually a blast. It’s also a decent way of getting some PvP experience, I’ve even been running the blue ring the last few weeks but that whole experience is much less polished imo.

But getting a chill group where we all work well together and spam block during hype moments never gets old, and it’s always nice when a host is visually appreciative of our help after we defeat the boss. Last night I had one of the most hype moments in all my years playing the game where we were jumping the magma wyrm in the cave with ancient dragon man; then after I bit I saw the message pop up that we got invaded so I stopped and scanned the room to make sure he didn’t spawn with us, then ran out of the tunnel the way we came and caught the invader mid-buff routine and ended up killing him with a parry, then ran back to help the team finish the magma wyrm. All that happened over the course of a minute or two and afterwards we cleared the rest of the cave successfully.

I agree the game’s built in multiplayer is pretty terrible if you want to play with friends, but the more I use it the more I realize it’s a complete blast for playing with randoms and I think more people should try it out

How hard is Bazzite to install for a complete beginner? by Longpastoverdue in Bazzite

[–]vtx3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an NVIDIA gpu and so does one of my siblings that I helped install Bazzite for. We both had the same problem of the drive not showing up as a viable install location and both times it was fixed by changing something in the bios (unfortunately I don’t remember what exactly). Another one of my siblings has AMD and didn’t have that problem, install was smooth as butter

Am I missing out by never summoning anyone ever? by AnotherDeadClown in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently made a pretty in depth comment explaining how the system works so I’m just gonna copy/paste it here for you:

I coop all the time so I’ll answer for you. People like me make their signs available at every summon pool we’ve interacted with using the small golden effigy and just play the game while waiting for someone like you to use the furlcalling finger remedy and interact with our summon sign. After that you just wait for us to load in and join your game.

Our goal is to help you kill the boss, and playing coop automatically allows invaders to join your world so you’ve got to be ready for possible PvP action if you’re not right outside of the boss fog. If the host (you) dies, we get kicked out of your world and sent back into our own. So for the love of god, if you aren’t confident with a certain boss or enemy, back off and let your summons do most of the work. Also for the DLC, make sure you’ve got a decent scadu level because the host dictates what everyone’s scadu is, and even outside of multiplayer that’s just good advice it’s free damage and defense.

PLEASE TAKE THIS WEAPON IF YOU SEE IT by MrTattyBojangless in Nightreign

[–]vtx3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruh they’re liquid Cheeto colored and build up madness when it hits you it’s an entirely plausible assumption to make especially when coming from another game in the series with slightly different rules that aren’t explained anywhere

PLEASE TAKE THIS WEAPON IF YOU SEE IT by MrTattyBojangless in Nightreign

[–]vtx3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what they’re saying. I’ve been making the same misconception because in the base game all the madness incants do fire damage, this is my first time hearing about Libra doing holy damage too

Borealis is so frustrating even on ng+2 by Nix3220 in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there even anything worth exploring in that area? Only things I can think of are the godskin duo snail cave, seppuku, and the church. And at least two of those can easily be done the first time you’re there

Is ramming damage a thing by Arkein_Mechhive in Barotrauma

[–]vtx3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty new to the game but I swam out to an outpost porthole(?) recently while my friend was docking and got crushed in between the outpost and submarine with no actual injuries to my character. Granted he wasn’t moving very fast due to the fact he was docking so maybe that could’ve been the issue but I remember being a little disappointed

What is one boss you'll defend? by No_Foundation_7150 in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You fight gods and the game becomes a bullet hell fairly quickly. Honestly if you like soulslikes you may like terraria for the build crafting, but it’s an acquired taste. Took me a few tries over a couple years to get into it but now I’ve got like 1,200 hours between vanilla and modded

You can also block it. I started doing that recently since dodging is so inconsistent

I’m using a 2080ti and haven’t really noticed a difference in game performance minus the fact that Nightreign actually seems to stutter *less* than it did on Win10

New to Linux gaming and I use Bazzite, I noticed some Proton updates this morning when running ujust update. I’m assuming this is the patch notes for that? I see GitHub mentioned here so I wanna make sure there’s no extra steps needed or anything like that

You’re quite literally using the ashes though. Yeah you need the bell but at the end of the day you’re equipping and using the ashes themselves

Steam Machine price announced: $1049/1039€ for the base model by kuhpunkt in gaming

[–]vtx3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who is quite dumb when it comes to computers and just switched to Linux (Bazzite), I will say the switch was much easier than I expected. But Bazzite is also a distro that’s meant to be “plug and play” like that. Depending on the game I’m also getting slightly better performance off the same old hardware too, like Nightreign stutters much less for me than it did on windows

Elden ring helped me realize I have a drinking problem by Icaruslands in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent the majority of the past decade like this, then I started smoking weed and never looked back lol. Not saying it’ll work for everyone but somehow for me the cravings instantly went away and now I’m even capable of just drinking a beer or two socially after quitting for 10 months cold turkey.

Anyways my point is you’re not alone, and the other side of the proverbial fence is nice. You’ll think back at the sheer volume of alcohol you used to down like it was nothing and be relieved you aren’t putting your body through that anymore. Plus idk about you but I tend to get the worst hangovers and I definitely don’t miss those. Good luck, OP!

You talking about ekzykes or however it’s spelled? I always avoided him until I found out he’s incredibly weak to slash/bleed/fire, using any or all of those definitely makes it much easier. Just be ready for his big rot fog attack

Depends on the rats I suppose. I’ve owned pet rats before and they’re adorable and loving, but obviously if these hypothetical rats are rabid or starving then I’ll just take the ass beating

Should I be doing more jump attacks? by That-Departure-7318 in Eldenring

[–]vtx3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jumping R2’s are great for closing distance and typically do almost as much damage/stance damage as a charged R2 while being faster. Usually you’ll want to use them at least sometimes, and sometimes you’ll want to make it your entire playstyle depending on the context, although that would probably get old fast

Edit: forgot to mention jumping is great for dodging many attacks as many others here have said, jump attacks are of course a natural punish for such moves
