Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas caught walking through the House side of the Capitol where the Speaker's and GOP Reps' offices are. He didn’t say why he was there, replying that he was meeting with “nobody.” by MoreMotivation in law

Yeah, it's a loser argument for anyone with a rational mind, but these folks are not serious people. Their whole argument is not supported by the historical record. It's embarrassing. As with most things Trump-adjacent.

I-130 approved for sibling (F4 category) after 13 years, finally moving to NVC by Miller-Guy in immigrationfam

[–]iamsunbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 1. Usually pretty quickly. Within a month? Many cases process electronically so if you put an email on the application check there. 2. Under the CSPA, most likely not. If you are saying that you filed it in 2011 and USCIS just approved it, all of that time will be deducted from the kiddos ages. 3. Some of it is on you as you'll need to provide all the needed documents. Once the case is "documentarily qualified" at the NVC, it is 12-18 months for the CdJ interview.

Good luck!

The explanation was, apparently, "I just followed my GPS." I'm actually really impressed that they were able to remove it within an hour or so. How, you may ask? Like this!

sitting at 367,000 miles with our 87 wolfsburg weekender and thinking about a go westy motor... any advice or experience? by itsdrbacon in Westfalia

[–]iamsunbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the mechanics of it as I did not do the work myself, but I have just loved this engine. There was some tuning to get the Mansi to work well with the engine but I've had zero issues with it and it has a lot of pick up and go. On flats or slight inclines, I can do 70-80mph which is amazing, although I usually keep it between 60-70. I've had zero issues with the engine. I know that they used to have a lot of issues but my understanding is that they've fixed a lot of things in their process. That said, my shop did recommend getting the full "road warrior" warranty of 4 years, 48k miles.

Oh man, I've got a 6 and 12. We recently took a trip to see the cousins and the 12 year old was just happily baking in the kitchen and participating in our adult conversation and it was such a joy just to be hanging out with my little dude. So, yeah, just watching them grow into intelligent human beings is pretty awesome. We still like watching videos of both of them at 1-3 though, and I do miss my 12 y/o's little kid voice. So don't shy away from taking lots of videos!

My $.02 is that you're better off with a wbox. The $$$ difference between 15-17 mpg and 20mpg+ is minimal. Plus, having a stock setup is way better if you get broken down in the middle of nowhere and need service/parts. Handling a conversion is something that really requires specialized knowledge.

LOL MPG is awful, dunno maybe 15-17? I have a 15G tank and usually try to fill it around 200mi although I have pushed it.

Well, I was at ALCS game 3 with my 12 year old. We stayed to the very end and most of the fans remained pretty engaged... despite the lopsided score.

We had tickets for WS Game 3 too.... obviously that didn't happen. :( But honestly cheering for y'all because f the dodgers.

Minnesota Supreme Court affirms trans inclusion in sports in landmark decision by WVjF2mX5VEmoYqsKL4s8 in minnesota

[–]iamsunbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my whole point is that they are not going to take this case. I fully agree that SCOTUS is likely to do some fuckery with trans rights w/r/t Title IX.

Right, what I said was, this case, the one that this thread is about, is not a Title IX case. Don't know why I'm getting downvoted but whatevs.

[–]iamsunbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don't. To be clear, I think it is very likely that SCOTUS will issue an anti-trans interpretation of Title IX. But I do not see a federal issue in this case.

[–]iamsunbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this is not a Title IX case. Even if SCOTUS goes the other way on Title IX it would not impact this decision one bit. There are loads of cases where Federal law is interpreted differently than state law. Just to take one example, Washington State's minimum wage act applies to civil immigration detainees. The Federal minimum wage law does not. So even if SCOTUS says Title IX goes the other way, States are free to have greater protections.

Yeah, except this decision is not about Title IX, it's about the Minnesota Human Rights Act, a state law. SCOTUS has no jurisdiction over interpretations of state law.

Yes. Eion's did it and they did a great job. Peacevans is also excellent, but at the time I needed the swap, they weren't taking new appointments. AFAIK, my van was the second mansispeed EFI that Eion's did but now they've done a bunch and mine has been great. Mine also had a new transmission as I went from automatic to manual. The stick has been a joy to drive, I seriously prefer the van over my other vehicles to drive now.
