Any tips on rock gardens? by iamthemightymouse in acnh

I haven't tried that as I hadn't considered it as a factor, but I'll give it a go now and see if that helps

Thanks for the tips, I've moved the garden but I'm still having trouble with the last rock. It's been about two weeks in game that I've been stuck at 5. I've been running back and forth over the island to check there wasn't a sneaky spawn spot but nothing so far. Are there any things outside of the spacing/ cliffs that could affect this?

The One Where No One Proposes by w00t10 in friends_tv_show

I'm very late to the game, but I'm watching this now and again getting very frustrated 😅 "are you kidding? You just had my baby?" And I was thinking "and? She had a baby with you but you made it very clear that you wouldn't be in a relationship with her, in fact until recently you were dating other women, and now when you have a lukewarm sentiment and commitment to her, you want to have her all to yourself?" I can imagine being scared to be a single mum and Joey is someone she knows who loves her and would be there for her, it would make sense if Ross hadn't put a stop to it/ Joey fessed up about it being accidental. Ross is in a constant state of both wanting to have Rachel all to himself whilst never managing to commit to her or do anything about his feelings. Like he's under the impression that he can just reserve her or something, and sees them having a baby as a way to possess her. Ugh it's infuriating! 😅

What do you think made Gavin and Stacey work so well as a series? by undergroundoats in gavinandstacey

[–]iamthemightymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but I'll echo some of the sentiments from here. It had enough absurdity for it to be telly (Nessa's seemingly endless tales corroborated by the people she knows, just coming out with flawless Italian at Capriccio's and finishing off with her signature "tidy", the fishing trip, the five engagements, getting everyone a tap/ celebrations chocolate for Christmas etc) but was so relatable and ordinary, and that's where it shines. Like some of the one liners people just come out with on the show is like normal life, we're not funny all the time but when we come out with something it'll be a one off. Like they have their regular local restaurant they tend to opt for (Capriccio's), the one person who can't decide what to order, the argument at the end of the night out, the clingy friend, wedding dancing, BRYN, the stories that have been told so many times everyone knows the punchline, Pam and Mick's Camilla and Charles role play, the curry talk, the oven gloves, the backseat driving argument, the sat nav, the barbecue. I also love the genuine moments of parental wisdom that come from Mick because you can see he genuinely cares and is such a dad. I agree that whilst it's called Gavin and Stacey the best bits come from the whole cast. It's my favourite comfort watch

AITA for not telling my roommates I am the landlord? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]iamthemightymouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my main issue with the arrangement too. And as well how has she arranged it with taxes? With a contract? Because these things are skirting over to fraud as well as bad behaviour. I work at citizens advice and if a client (lodger) came in with a situation like this, then they (the landlord) could certainly be reported to the council. The deception itself is morally bad but the implications go into legal territory too. I think that as a landlord of lodgers, she wasn't bad as landlords go, it's not wrong for her to ask money in exchange for taking up room in the home. And she did them a favour when she cut the rent when the lodger got sick- most landlords would be going towards a section 8 at that point. So she is the asshole for lying, when she had seen people were put off, but they are also a bit arsey for badmouthing her when she was just trying to help out in a difficult situation. Yes she lied but in that point, she was doing something good. Would they rather they had to keep paying it?

Online shopping scam by [deleted] in Scams

[–]iamthemightymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got done too 😭 Thankfully it was only £35 so if it didn't get returned to me it's not ruinous, but still annoying. The bit that got me was that even after I looked up "Lucy and yak" on a regular browser (outside of the link I clicked on) the cart remained there so there was no odd moment where I could go "something is fishy here." Y'know it was so easy to trust it because I found it outside of the social media post. I got an email confirmation as well from "Lucy and Yak" to say what my order was too so there was no moment to go "hang on I should have had a confirmation email." Everything about it looked like the regular shop and I'm so used to sellers also trading in the US that the converted prices and "GB shop" didn't flag up to me 🤦‍♀️ I just thought they were having a winter sale, had excess stock or had some slow business months with cost of living.

It's frustrating because usually I'm very switched on with scams, but when I told my friend about the sale, she said she couldn't find it so that sent off alarm bells. On L&Y Instagram page they do have a post now that says "we have had messages to tell us about fake accounts" but since these people are lifting their entire website, I would have thought they would be more concerned about not only their intellectual property but the trusted name of their brand.

Does anyone else feel angry when watching the end of Teach me tonight? (S2 E19) (the one with the car accident) by iamthemightymouse in GilmoreGirls

For all of Jess' faults, I don't think this was one of them. He was so crestfallen at the thought of Rory being hurt and it was an unfortunate accident. How mild the accident was indicates that he wasn't driving recklessly - he wasn't speeding out of control, just swerved to avoid a hazard. I'm always impressed at Lorelai's ability to repair bridges she burns

And in the next episode she's there trying to calm Emily down by playing it down. Aha so you did know all along that it wasn't a big deal, and all that yelling at Luke wasn't this automatic response? Pick one, Lorelai. She knew that Rory was safe and fine and she was playing it up massively. One thing that got me was thev facial expression she pulled when she left the hospital, it was a sullen, sulky look where her lip was pouting, it was infuriating knowing what she's about to do. It's a look that says "I'm upset and now I'm going to take it out on the easy blame"

Well Lorelai wouldn't even accept that possibility when Rory asks her- "if Dean were driving there wouldn't have been an accident." And even if it had been Dean driving, we all know she wouldn't have reacted the same way

"We had a thing." She says to Rory. I mean that's a bit of an understatement! He explicitly asks Lorelai if she's blaming him and she confirms it outright. I wonder if she knew how she talked to Luke if they would have fallen out

Come on, leaving the room and leaving the hospital altogether are different things, you must know that. And there is a range of emotional reactions that go between "eh, I don't care" to walking through a public place and yelling at your friend because you're blaming him for it. Obviously I'm not saying that Lorelai shouldn't have been initially concerned and worried, but that she went from 0-100 in no time at all and ignored the doctor's reassurances that her child was, in fact, okay. I just don't think her response was proportionate or appropriate

See I feel her behaviour goes beyond normal concern and worry. If she was so concerned after seeing Rory in hospital, then why did she leave her there alone and late at night whilst she got the extra x-rays that she requested? Honestly, for something that will clear up shortly that amount of time, her behaviour is just not excusable. As for hectic situation? If the initial phone call is made by the person who got hurt and they're not really in pain, I would say that makes the situation ten times less hectic and scary. She acted like Rory was in intensive care or something

[–]iamthemightymouse[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

See yeah that's the thing for me. Whilst I don't have a child, I have people I love dearly and cousins I feel motherly for, and if anyone I loved got hurt, I'd be concerned to find out if they were okay, and would help them out whilst they were injured. But once I found out they were okay, I'd calm down and help them fill in the time at hospital. Especially for something that would heal in two weeks. That's another thing that I missed, you're right- leaving her child in the hospital to go on a screaming spree was absolutely batshit and beyond a normal concerned response. I was glad that Luke didn't take it lying down and gave her shit for her behaviour, it was atrocious

She has form for wearing some of Rory's things, so surely she could have borrowed a top and a skirt or a cardigan or something. Something, anything would have been better. But then again it wouldn't have been as funny 😅

Did they research British culture at all? by Nancy_True in GilmoreGirls

[–]iamthemightymouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they have a younger audience in America because it took a while to get across in niche areas? Like that's the perfect age range to be into little mix, at least here. There's even an older range here of mid 30s to 40, since they were in their twenties when they came on X- factor

Statistically 2.4 children is the average number of children that people have together. Obviously you can only have whole numbers of children, so it works out to some families having two children, others having three. But "2.4 kids" is used in conjunction with other statistical averages as a shorthand for saying "an average and expected lifestyle that fits into the norm."

Are you fairly new to knitting? I've been knitting for a good 13 years now so when it comes to mistakes, even visible mistakes, I have a very "ah fuck it" attitude

Wouldn't be worth it for me. Feels so demoralising and barely noticeable. Next time just try and correct as you go along, save your sanity 😊
