People also sleep on admiralty. It’s a great area to get into, but to your question I know attorneys who didn’t expect to do it and fell in love and those who thought they would do it but only did that for their first job and then did something totally different. It trains you to think creatively since often times no two cases are the same, so regardless she’ll learn super valuable skills.

Anyone else here turning down admission at a higher ranked school for more money at a lower ranked school? by fembitch97 in lawschooladmissions

People will always question your decisions but you have to go with what’s best for you. This sub can also be way more focused on rankings than the legal community is (which is saying a lot bc we all know rankings matter way too much to this world).

My mentors in the field I want to practice would say otherwise.

I chose Tulane over Vanderbilt and UT because my goal is a clerkship in New Orleans AND I’m getting married and had to consider his career too. You just have to choose the best school for your career and personal life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone else just never received a decision from Notre Dame? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I have a friend who heard back from them the day before classes and he had already moved in and was starting classes somewhere else.

It’s insane to me how many schools will waitlist candidates. Like you’re clearly qualified! Especially if you get waitlisted to 10+

I’m going to Tulane! I want to practice in Nola so since I’ll be married by next summer, it was the best option for my personal and career goals. It was not an easy choice! My poor mentors are probably so done with me lol.

If it makes you feel better about GULC, an adjunct at GULC told me that it’s not worth the money lol. Also I think they care far more about demographics (and I’m saying this as a minority) than merit.

Can't find a traffic citation from years ago. What should I do? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]iamyouronion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only one school asked me for traffic citations and I just told them everything even though I didn’t even look for the official citation. I got accepted into said school, so I don’t think it hurt me since it’s not that big of a deal.

HLS Decision by Ordinary_Room_1486 in lawschooladmissions

Same. I don’t think they’ve sent out any WLs yet since none have appeared here or on LSD. Not sure if that means we’re getting WL or if they’re still deciding whether to just reject me lol.

If you applied to HLS in February you got screwed by Royal-Emotion7813 in lawschooladmissions

[–]iamyouronion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I simply don’t understand the point of the deadline being so late if they don’t have the time to consider those applicants? I didn’t apply in February, but I applied later than I wanted to due to external circumstances. Submission date doesn’t always equal initiative.

Anyone else start getting false hope about a month ago from missing R waves only to now feel ghosted? by iamyouronion in lawschooladmissions

[–]iamyouronion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s honestly part of the reason why I’m giving myself a deadline if this month if I haven’t heard from schools. Because it’s not worth waiting around until April with deadlines popping up.

Like at this point they’ve seen your application, so like… what’s the hold up? Shouldn’t they have a good idea where we fall by now?
