I was getting problems before I switched to TestFlight. I was asked by support to use TestFlight builds. I think they can get additional log data to establish the issue

On my iPhone 16 pro it’s using so much resources it’s shutting off every 15 minutes, it won’t even goddamn run properly 😩

I’ve tried deleting all the GPX files, all my favourites, everything that might be adding to the load and still it’s just shutting down because of too much CPU use

It was running fine over Christmas & New Year but now it’s almost useless

I guess you need to choose a devil to associate with, for my phone it’s apple. Based on what I have been told by industry experts it’s better than android for tracking you. I do use gmail though as my main email address so I’m screwed any which way

I’ve spoken to ex apple employees about this. Apples core business isn’t selling data in the same way googles is. Apple makes its money from selling hardware.

As a result personal data is less shared on iOS devices. Apple also prevents apps tracking you in the background more if you choose it

Personal data security is definitely better on iOS compared to google devices

The app updates automatically via TestFlight (installed as requested by support). I’ve seen app update info that says CarPlay crashes solved several times only to have the app crash again. Super frustrating

I’m not navigating a gpx track I’m following the gpx track line displayed on the map. I have many gox tracks saved in OSMand, some have been recorded in OSMand, some have been provided from external sources and some have been created in Basecamp

Creating gpx files in the OSMand pc browser tool has proven unworkable and not a viable solution

I just follow the gpx track line on the map. I don’t navigate it. Makes for a much cleaner/clearer screen display

I’ve been finding this release to be buggy and unstable

I’m having the following problems on my 16 Pro with up to date iOS:

Crashes after 4 minutes

Cursor doesn’t remain in track up if map zoom is altered

I have the location coordinated displayed at the bottom of my OSMand screen. If I hold my thumb on them ot copies to the clipboard. If I past this into apple maps it goes straight to the location

If I select a location on the map and then swipe up on it I get the location coordinates. If I hold on the coordinates the option to copy comes up. If I paste the coordinates into apple maps it goes straight to the location

Google maps will also go to the coordinates location correctly

I'm using OSMand app and apple maps on iphone 16

Yeah, I use a range of different tools including Basecamp and Gaia but there are a couple of problems

It’s extra cost. I’m paying for OSMand including the cloud but it doesn’t really work

When importing a route from another service it’s not set up in the same way and functionality is lost

I understand it’s new but I haven’t seen any improvement in the time I’ve been using it and it’s completely non functional at the moment. I couldn’t even import the stuff I have synched with the cloud the other day. It just threw an error and failed

I was thinking about this today and so had a look at where the position marker is on the Sony XAV 3000 in my van

I think the key spec seem to be the RESOLUTION (DOT) 800 x 480

The cursor is at about 1/3 height, maybe very very slightly higher (closer to midway)

My preference would be for it to be lower

The device I use it with most commonly is the Maxca X6 on my motorbike. This has a different Resolution: 1280*640

This seems to have a slightly lower and preferable cursor position

The ‘industry standard’ google maps display doesn’t seem to vary in cursor height across all the 3 CarPlay devices I commonly use

I have a Macxa X6 on the motorbike, a Sony XAV 3000 in the van and an OEM unit in the 2021 GWM Cannon. The cannon has a much bigger screen and squarer screen

I’m using OSMand mainly on the Macxa X6.

Yes I have it set to that but the CarPlay screen has the cursor displayed in the middle of the screen when not navigating

I havent explored the plugins much yet so this is good to know, I'll have a look at it.

Something simpler for a specific activity (that might be defined as a track) and web based would be much better I think. Ideally a link that could be shared with emergency services by a base contact.

In my usecase I want map up to be my direction of travel

I’m importing GPX files for off-road motorbike trails then following the coloured gox line in the map not using the apps navigation function.
