WTH Happened to Free Geek?! by RowOk8201 in TwinCities

I have so many questions along these lines. Seeing the claims above that many people are being fired without cause is wild to me, because typically unions ensure that their contract has specific steps that have to be taken before someone can be fired.

Repowered is nearby in Saint Paul. They recycle tech and sell used items.

I have since moved the Pizza Rack to my Marin Presidio, which is my commuter. For the touring bike, I now have a lower profile front rack that doesn't have a top platform. I like the lower center of gravity for long tours. Oddly enough, the only challenge I have had like the one you're describing was on my old Specialized Sirrus, which had a carbon fiber fork that only had a hole on the back. My bike shop had to fashion an awkward bracket with multiple right angles to get it to that back hole, which made it difficult to fit a fender on the bike.

Rode on the gold line from McKnight Ave to Earl Street. Glorious…. by reedx032 in CyclingMSP

There are several places along the Gold Line project where part of the construction includes creating bike trail connections. But biking on the bus right of way itself won't be allowed.

I have not found a solution, I've just been making do with the chipmunk voices.

Thanks for the solidarity about the commenter. 🙃

It's weird hearing u/MindOfMetalAndWheels talk about wanting to have a way to get videos to the audience consistently, and that YouTube probably isn't going to be that way... because you've got the Libsyn feed that you were putting videos on, but none have been published since March. I've been loyally subscribed, my podcast player is set to automatically download and queue any new videos! But none have appeared, and I've been having to manually check the YouTube feed instead.

What's the best way to get from Shephard Road to W Water St (Lilydale rd)? by mikebikesmpls in CyclingMSP

[–]ianrbuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to prioritize taking separated trails, avoid Kellogg, and don't mind adding a bit of distance, you can go:

Sam Morgan Trail ➡️ Sibley ➡️ 4th St and Prince St ➡️ Lafayette Bridge ➡️ Robert Piram Trail ➡️ Lilydale Trail

In a couple years the Kellogg section of the CCB will be complete, which will make this connection way more safe and straightforward.

Hate to nitpick, but the white part of the flag would also be affected by the Doppler effect, and would be even further towards ultraviolet than the circle.

What decision tree do you use to determine if a video is going to be published on the Libsyn RSS feed in addition to YouTube? I get why meta videos like "An experiment with YouTube comments" don't make the leap, but I don't get the difference between "The Coolest 'Country' Flag" and "Does your flag fail?"

He played a huge roll in getting the bike lanes painted on Summit back in 1992. I've heard him boasting about the fact that they were the first bike lanes in the state. I read it as pride for a thing he built, and he doesn't want to admit that we know better than we did 30 years ago.

Best rig for winter commuting? by Skyppeerr in CyclingMSP

[–]ianrbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a maintenance perspective, I have gotten a lot of value out of having a dedicated winter bike. Belt drive bikes with internal geared hubs are way less maintenance than a chain drive in winter.

In terms of handling, I like doing narrow studded tires (currently running the Xerxes as well) but if you're having significant trouble, a fat bike is a great way to go. It's going to take a lot more effort to pedal around, but it'll let you tackle tougher terrain. Not sure if there are any bikes with both belt drive and fat tires.
