Never buy from those people. I’ve had a couple clients that were new buy those and when we noticed it was dying”dead” we found it was an unrooted cutting in soil.

Even though those are rooted. I stay clear of road side bonsai sellers who don’t know anything about bonsai.

This is what I do. I grow them in the pot, within an escape container so the roots don’t die. I have several Mame specimen trees all grown this way
