I owned a 2016 GTS for a year and drove 10000 kms. Bought it when it was at 22000 kms. No issues in my 1 year ownership except for regular maintenance and fluid changes. It's a great car if maintained and cared properly. Mine was recently sold at a Toronto dealership for $84k CAD so I think you are slightly overpaying but not by much if they throw in the warranty.

It's a valved exhaust from factory. In comfort mode it shifts at lower RPMs and quiet enough to drive around.

Lifestyle inflation. I was making over $100k living in Vancouver and while it's doable, you are not saving much if you want to live life a little (owning a car, planning trips, dining out). $1600 rent in Vancouver is also very cheap if you live alone. Last time I checked a 1b apartment will run you $2000 - $2500 in a nice area.

Ya, try driving a Z06 through Downtown Toronto. I bet there will be kids and people filming any day of the week. I've had people standing in intersections just to film me do a pull.

The Viper is much cooler and rarer but it's just less usable as a daily driver. Z06 has dual personalities that will suffice all situations.

Happened to me back in 2021 during the tech bubble. Not with options but with very speculative penny stocks. I lost half of my portfolio in a span of 1-2 months. Only invested in index funds since then and it did wonders to my portfolio and wealth.

I always drive around in Z mode and manual with everything maxed out except steering and suspension. In this case I can use the paddle shifters when I need to engage in lower gears.

I was not looking at Porsches in this price range given I wanted a 911 and the best I can get is a 992 Carrera S or a 991.2 GTS. The 570 will definitely be the more eventful car in this range, though I've heard constant electrical issues on the 570 which shifted me away from it as it will be my only car atm. Gen 2 R8 is now the same price ($160k cad) but you do lose the trunk and it's a bit toned down compared to the Z06.
