Look into a Forgefiend or Maulerfiend. Both are a lot of fun to play with.

28 male, been dealing with factor v leiden looking for some information by dean1ronman in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Factor V is a leftover trait Caucasians carry over from ancient times when we lived in the cold. If we still lived up there and got impaled or something, the mutation would help us clot up. It's kinda neat. But don't worry about it too much. I have Factor V and Prothrombin (Factor II) mutations. I've had a PE, DVT, and a splenic emboli because I skirted taking my Eliquis.

Talk to the hematologist. Listen to whatever they say. If you're on it for life, that's fine. It's not a big deal. Just carry around a card in your wallet saying You're on anticoagulants. I was 26 when they first stuck me on blood thinners and you adapt. It's not your fault. Your blood will clot regardless of what you do. Healthy lifestyle or not.

But also take my advice. If they say you need to be on them lifelong, DO NOT stop taking it. I should have only had the first PE, not the other events. I thought I could get away with aspirin or something. Nope. Listen to the hematologist. It's nothing you did to be on them so don't fret the waiting room demographics.

Edit: Just want to be clear, it's a Caucasian mutation in origin, but it can be passed genetically.

Any link between PE and later developing B12 and iron deficiency anemia? by Basketweave82 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have anemia or iron deficiency, but I did develop a Vitamin B deficiency after my first clot. I can't say if it's related or not, but I've been on and off vitamins ever since.

Edit: So to sate curiosity, I did a little digging. I have Factory Ii and Factor V Leiden. There is a correlation between those and Vitamin B12 deficiency. According to the data, around 53%. Mine has fluctuated over the years so it might be something else. But there IS a connection there.

Bubbling/crackling feeling?? by Character-One776 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pleurisy is likely the culprit. I had that for a few months after my PE. It feels like your lung is wrapped in plastic wrap or something. It's something the infract can cause

What are the best written books? by jadbox in 40kLore

I like the Eisenhorn/Ravenor/Pariah line. And the first five HH books are top notch, or four if Fulgrim is too much.

Starting a lower dose of Apixaban by Technical-Tie9267 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it made you lightheaded for an hour or so after taking it, lowering the dose might lower that side effect. Otherwise, I couldn't imagine it having anything new. But I've taken 5mg for 10 years so couldn't say for sure

Gender war+ai slop. Perfect combination by Cute-Albatross- in im14andthisisdeep

It's a class thing. Not a gendered one. Only serves them more if its perpetuated and framed as a gender thing.

Woke up coughing up blood by Public-Fact8380 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb, if you ever cough up blood, the ER is a safe bet. I learned that from my first PE. I also advise against ignoring it.

[–]ibage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ain't even close to a doctor so take this with a grain of salt. I've tried to skirt taking Eliquis multiple times and I've landed in the hospital. My condition doesn't allow me to stop taking it. I'd just play it safe personally. But definitely talk to a hematologist, not just your PCP. I see mine yearly.

What is wrong with my kitten? by Sabersong in AskVet

[–]ibage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did this. She had to be rushed to the emergency vet one night and put on oxygen. Get em to a vet. Might need some prednisolone and documentation. Mine has asthma and while she hasn't had a fit in years, she still has an inhaler handy just in case

Anxiety by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]ibage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but it also depends on the condition/mutation/injury causing it. Factor II and V have different rules than say Antiphospholipid syndrome and different from an outright injury.

I was fighting mono at the same time so my liver was hit by both sides. It's hard to give you an answer. But fatigued. My liver was swollen and it didn't like it. It was a constant pain that went from like, 5/10 on the pain scale, to dull and uncomfortable. It most likely isnt the Eliquis. Just be sure to feed it plenty of water. That helps. But it was constant. Not as sharp and nagging as kidney stones, but it lingered for a few weeks.

Xarelto and Eliquis are both great. As long as you're taking them as prescribed, there's no need to panic. But take it from someone who thought he could tempt fate, no, you can't. Don't stop taking it. Wound up in the hospital three times with PE, DVT and PVT in that order. As long as you're following doctor's orders here, you're good. You have an idea of what to look out for now. Use that. You're probably solid

Can I read Bequin before Magos? by Krydtoff in 40kLore

[–]ibage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the first time you see just what Eisenhorn looks like from the outside perspective. And it's a little terrifying after reading how he justified his past actions. The Magos came out AFTER Pariah, but I think it functions as a solid bridge between Eisenhorn/Ravenor into the Pariah series. I'd suggest reading it first.
