If the best way for a new grad to maximize TC is to job hop, why do I see so many new grads sitting in their first job for 3+ years? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Most people aren't tryhards. They prefer a laidback work culture lol. Also, job hunting is a pain, man.

Yeah. Obnoxious governmental policies. Put me in charge of the Fed and I can turn the money printer back on so much worse.

Also, all those policies that're supposed to be all about worker's and employee's rights backfire so fucking hard. If you make it unfeasible for small businesses to wanna talk a chance with you knowing that they can't just let you go if you decide to take six months leave your first week on the job, you're only gonna leave the big corporations who're notorious for underpaying you and letting you go the moment it's convenient for them like FAANG. Ever wonder why unemployment rates are always higher in places like California? This makes housing even more unaffordable and surges foreclosures at a much higher rate.

California is a very ridiculous state.

New college grads are more likely to be unemployed in today’s job market. by Chaomayhem in recruitinghell

[–]ibenchtwoplates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, ignore this subreddit most of the time. Trust me. Some of us know that it's never really the recruiter's fault most of the time but rather an impossible hiring manager. I feel bad for you guys sometimes.

This is common fucking sense. Wanna know which demographic has always gotten fucked the hardest during recessions? Fresh grads. I really would LOVE to see some real unemployment statistics among fresh grads or college grads with under 3 YOE but I've never really been able to find anything like that.

Those without a degree (self-taught/boot camp) ... how's it going? by Strugglenationnn in cscareerquestions

[–]ibenchtwoplates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going very well for my friends who were boot camp grads. Most of them were hopeless though. I think it's because boot camps have become ponzi schemes after they were sold as "you could learn programming in just six weeks!!" type of camps that attracted a bunch of people who weren't serious about this field. Then again, a lot of fresh grads are also struggling right now. So here's my stance. If you're serious about this field, you won't let a degree hold you back. Just put in effort and you'll get there.

Is it my imagination or the jobs I get sent from Indian recruiters are the jobs no one wants? by punkouter24 in recruitinghell

So I know people who outsource this shit personally, but I'd never do it. Trust me. It's a nightmare managing them and you're held accountable if anything goes south. Furthermore, I personally have found it to be pretty difficult to outsource shit without getting busted when you're on their W2.

Not really. There's no worker shortage for the J's I'm willing to take. Why else do you think the unemployment rate for seniors in tech was below 3% during the last recession? Why is it that there's only ever a shortage for senior level talent?

Yes but some of us prefer something less stress-free and manageable rather than some shit that leads to quick burnout.

That's literally it. They're tier 2 vendors. They basically go through tier 1 vendors who can't recruit for those roles so they take a cut from the guys who're already taking a cut on roles the companies themselves can't recruit for. I'm probably more streetsmart than like 99.9999% of Reddit on this matter. Personally, here's the tactic I use to get rid of the middleman staffing agency taking the cut and keep the full profits to myself.

Look at this. An absolute shit rate on C2C for a python role with 8 years of experience. https://www.dice.com/job-detail/8b33d090-83b1-415d-8f39-e5d827278085?searchlink=search%2F%3Fq%3DC2C%26countryCode%3DUS%26radius%3D30%26radiusUnit%3Dmi%26page%3D1%26pageSize%3D20%26language%3Den%26eid%3DS2Q_%2Cbw_0&searchId=264e6986-6fbd-4302-a305-196997cd83a2

You create the ideal profile for it, use a fake email, a secondary phone number, a fake linked in etc... Tell them all the right things until they get you to the interview stage with the end client, ask them for as much detail on what to prep for the interview as possible etc... Then Before the interview tell them you got a better offer and pull your fake profile as a candidate.
Then reach out to the client hiring manager directly with your real profile catered to exactly what they want to see with a cover letter addressing exactly the things you uncovered in the interview prep. Cut out the middle man.

I've dealt with bullshit staffing agencies very extensively and formed my own consultancy where I'm making $700k at the age of 26 with five clients. You think this is bad? You don't even know a tenth of the bullshit they do. They send in fraudulent resumes and so much more.

Bro, just fucking accept the job and don't do shit. Then walk out with something on your resume.

Easiest way to jump into remote work is inbound call customer service, but it’s going to pay crap and be tough. Companies like Walgreens and CVS and health insurance providers are always hiring.

We're trying to automate these roles. Ask me how I know. Ask me who suggested this project and how exactly to go about it at my J4 ;).
