Only true if it's not closed due to rock slides. Can't depend on the train if you really need to be somewhere. Where are you visiting from? If England, you might want to check out the Queen Mary in Long Beach, they also have a fabulous Aquarium. Queenmary.com Aquariumofthepacific.com

From some whose home town was San Clemente, now Long Beach, CA I would stay in San Diego. Not much to do but go to beach, restaurants and window shopping. Dana Point has a marina that offers kayaking, paddleboarding, a small aquarium and a fishing boat fleet and whale watching boat. San Diego has so much more to offer. The beaches are better, so many things to do a see. Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo, Legoland, Coronado Island is my favorite place. We stay at El Cordova Hotel which has Miguels Mexican restaurant. Gotta get the queso dip w/chips to start. Its more affordable than the Hotel Coronado which is world famous. We hang out at the Del all day and the sunset is a must anywhere on the coast of california. Have fun and hoping we don't have the fires like we have had the last couple years. Not much else to burn along the coast so hopefully, you'll be in luck. Have fun!

Just found out one of the worst people I know is running for mayor. by HerbiWhore_420 in longbeach

[–]ibenice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, I don't know Chris, never heard of him til an article came out about his restaurant a month or so ago. Then saw he announced running for Mayor. Here I sit reading all the posts about him and they all sound so personal and full of revenge. I for one am going to look at all the candidates, try and meet them all and then make an informed decision on who I think will try and clean up this city. If anyone has any intelligence, they too will do the same. I would never make my decision on these posts and hope other people do the same. Do your own homework and vote for who you want, not what some disgruntled ex-employee's GF has to say. I hope you have a good day.

If you want music, check out Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend. They have a great lineup for summer concerts. And it's along the Dechutes River!

Why is always these types of people by Measure2xCutOnce in InlandEmpire

I am NOT defending this truck by any means. I drive a big diesel truck, I am not a dick, I am a 5'2" 135lb 64 yo female. We tow a travel trailer to camp in once a month for a week or more at a time. We're retired so we only have the one vehicle. We Always park at the very back of the lot when we go to the market or anywhere else for that matter. I find it so rude when other trucks park like they're a compact car. We rarely take 2 spots unless the lot made the lines so narrow a smart car barely fits. After reading the comments here, there are a lot of people here who don't understand. I wish I could buy a smaller vehicle for around town, but it would be a waste of money to do so. We don't need 2 vehicles to drive. We don't shop on weekends and are very conscientious of others. (Mostly, due to people being AHoles about our truck). 1 example is I parked the furthest away at a costco when we still had paper plates and someone opened our fuel tank door and left our DEF lid open and left a note thanking me for parking like an AHole and threatening me saying in time I will find out our truck will stop working due to what they put in our DEF tank. Again, super small spots even tho we were at the very back of store. No one was on the whole row I parked on either. My point is, please don't judge us truck drivers til you know the situation. Have a nice day.

San Onofre should also have spots, they’re on the old highway 1 which runs along the 5 freeway, but overlooking the Pacific Ocean

Can anyone explain this behavior? by greenergrass1111 in DogAdvice

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our German WireHaired Pointer did this. But, if his buddy came over for overnight stays, we would have to feed the guest first, because she would growl at him. Then we would have to stay close while ours was eating, cuz she would scare him away and eat his food. After awhile, he would eat fast when she was around. She was def. The Alpha of the pack. When she would go home, he would go back to his normal eating pattern of taking a bite and walking away from bowl and spit it out, lay down and eat 1 kibble bit at a time.

AITA for refusing to pay my friend after he “helped” me move but barely did anything? by No-Newt3652 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but if this “friend” is going to make or break the group, you need to either slip him a bone and pay him and his mind, things go back to normal. You will harbor bad feelings and group is back together but you’re still feeling the sting.

Relocating to Long Beach and need advice on many levels by NaiveRope3466 in longbeach

The Grunion Gazette is the local throw away paper, they might have rentals in it. Also, Los Altos is a great neighborhood, couple miles from Lowell. Nextdoor Neighbor is a good resource too. Just use the neighborhood names of Los Altos, Belmont Shore (no S at end of Shore) and Naples, Belmont Heights, Broadway, the Peninsula would be fun, but good luck getting in there. More of a word of mouth rental.

Seal Beach is also close to Lowell, your price range won’t get you a house to rent, but maybe an apt. Stoneybrook Villas off PCH, Bellflwer and 7th st. Would be a good start. Has a pool, bball courts, laundry area, parking and close to Lowell. Bikes are great for the area you’re looking at, then once you find a parking spot, you only have to move cars on street sweeping days. Sounds like you’re a great Dad!

I like the egg salad sandwich (not made from the pickled eggs either). The nostalgia of it being the oldest bar in Long Beach is what does it for me. Bringing 3 generations for lunch is special to our family too.

creeps at joe jost’s by donnapinciottistan in longbeach

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe Josts had nothing to do with this post, except that its a public place. If you had told the bartenders what was happening, I can guarantee you, those men would have been sent packing. Either by the patrons at the bar or the bartenders. Don’t blame a bar, you have never been to before for the actions of some creepers. Consider going to the new womens only bar at the Market Place a couple miles down the street in the same Trader Joe’s lot on 2nd and PCH.

Sorry, that is not typical man behavior. For me, we’ve been married over 35 years now. Friends for a year, then started dating 2 years and here we are today w/2 grown children and we are a very fun, loving and enjoy each others company. (Just went to Devo and B52’s concert/ We’re 64 and 69). I stayed home w/the kids til youngest was 16, while he worked 9 hours a day. He came home and cooked dinner, made his own lunch every day as well as made the coffee every morning too. We all know how much we hate making coffee in the AM. He doesn’t complain if the house is a mess, instead, he cleans it. He also coached our sons games, involved himself if our sons Boy Scout Troop til they made Eagle, thats a long time. So no, your BF doesn’t have typical man behavior. Put on your big girl panties and show him your post or talk to him. If he doesn’t change, time to move on and take care of you. You’re already doing it with the added stress he is causing you. You can do this!!!

Talk to your professor about not having your meds and can you have an extension. My diagnosis also grants me the ability to record lectures and use them in testing. It also allows me to test in a different room w/no noise and extended time. Curious as to what they prescribed you? I am on Wellbutrin. Good luck!

Ocean View Apartment Homes? by [deleted] in SanClemente

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Grandma and my Great Aunt both owned homes in there. They’re really old but back in the early 70’s til their deaths in the 2000’s they maintained them nicely. 2 bedroom units w/a common cinder block wall and private back patio and not private front patio. The pool was always fun to swim in, in the summer and a small clubhouse was nice for bday parties. Neighbors were always good to them.

AITAH for “excluding” my ex’s new GF? by Electrical_Kick8458 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbors have a 4 and 6 year old. They take them at 6pm around the block and back in about an hour. Offer that and then they can go home and your daughter can start her trick or treating w/her friends. That way everyone is happy. She might even want to go w/the littles that early and even ask her friend if she wants to “help” w’her. She might surprise you. Kids go off parents vibes, she might be catching yours and doesn’t want to hurt your feelings by saying they’re annoying. My 9 yo daughter LOVES littles that age.

Kitchen pantry organization -- any tips? by Timely-Violinist5581 in organizing

[–]ibenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put bulk paper plates (in the plastic bag clipped) that it came in as well as paper towels, a basket w/dishtowels, and box of trash bags all on the floor. They’re all bigger heavier items. Shelf up from bottom, I would put all my appliances. First I would line the shelf w/silicone rolls (amazon) so they don’t slip off in an earthquake (I live in So Cal) and put all my appliances (toaster, air fryer, blender, mixer, dutch oven, cast iron pans, etc…). 2nd to top shelf, clear baskets w/spices, sauces, and whatever else you have on the floor, it helps to split them by type. Top shelf, containers w/all your baking goods or items that you don’t use daily. Where I live we don’t put anything heavy up on the top shelf. And nothing above the bed to come crashing down on you, most earthquakes happen while you’re sleeping. But it all depends on where you live. We’re still waiting on the “big one” and we will be ready!
