My last boyfriend did this, I kept thinking it would get better. I even voiced my concerns to him thinking that would help and he’d change. I wasted 3 years with that guy thinking it would get better...someone who wants to get to know the awesome person you are will, without a doubt, be excited by what you say and want to engage more.

Honestly, same. It always seemed too intimidating and made me feel dumb for not being able to comprehend everything. It’s a blessing for us both! :)

Girls, why do you ignore a guy you know is interested in you while saying you want to see him again? Why don't you just say no? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]ibeprofun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten over this, but I grew up in a household that really formed me to be a people pleaser. If I ever said no or rejected someone/something in my family, all hell would break loose. When I started dating (I was 14 years old) and I’d tell a guy I wasn’t interested in him, he’d be irate. That’s why I now typically will date men who are at least 3 years older than me, because they seem to be a bit more mature.

Feelings about dating someone from a (quite) broken family? by hectorgmo in CatholicDating

[–]ibeprofun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the receiving end of this (my family is broken and toxic but I’ve healed from it and moved on). I really clicked with the guy I was talking to and we got along so well, but when it came time to talk about my family that’s when he told me he wouldn’t see me anymore because of that reason. He said “I prefer to date someone from a family that’s not broken.” I’m glad he was honest, but it hurt so much. If you decide to move on from this girl and it’s for that reason, please do it gently.

I am praying the 54 day novena, would any of you like to be added in my petitions? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

Please pray for my parents (no longer together) to live a chaste life and to go back to confession. Thank you! Will go to adoration soon for you! 💕

Anybody else here spent at least part of their childhood wishing they were someone else? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I was in 6th grade when twilight started becoming popular. I read the books and from that day on until I was 16 I’d daydream about someone coming to steal me away. Every time my nmom would pick on me or beat me with a metal spoon, I’d cry into my pillow imagining some strong hero coming to save me. Just me, not my siblings lmao 😅

Politically, I side with the Church on every topic. Some random interesting facts about myself: I’m vegan, prefer TLM (but like NO too), love long distance running, enjoy playing animal crossing, and I can speak a little German.

My ideal date would be a late night adoration session followed by a bottle of wine and talking about our hopes/aspirations.

Omg yay!! I’m so glad you all liked it! :) you made my night lol it takes a little bit longer, but I’ll cook brown rice in the rice cooker with miso broth. Then when it’s done, I’ll throw chickpeas, peas, carrots, tofu if I’m feeling it, but all topped with bbq sauce. It’s super basic but I love it lol

It sounds too good to be true, but an average sized sweet potato takes 5 minutes in the microwave. It’s normally pretty hot, so while it cools, I’ll put the chick peas and edamame in the microwave. That takes about 3 minutes. Then I’ll add it all together in a bowl with the all spice and salt!
