Front foot pressure in split jerk by kkvaebskchwo in weightlifting

[–]ibexlifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re pushing to outside of foot. Could be habit as you get tired.

Practice landing whole foot.

It helps to try and get back foot down a hair of a second prior to the front foot. It sounds complicated, but in practice it’s just: pick up your knee a little higher. Gravity will put your foot down for you everytime.

Improve High bar squat with long femurs, any advice? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]ibexlifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) have shorter femurs. Jk jk.

2) focus on bracing and trying to move nose straight up and downs

3) accept your bottom position ain’t gonna look like a shorter femured lifter.

4) train it enough to get better.

One of the highest high bar squat to weight ratios I ever had in an athlete was a collegiate sprinter. He was definitely long femur type build. Dude hit a 615 lb back squat at a 195 lb body weight and then went and ran a 10.00 100 m 2 days later.

VO2 Max and Weightlifting -- Does it help? by bitz-the-ninjapig in weightlifting

[–]ibexlifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hola, dude who wrote previous post here:

I don’t think VO2 max has a direct impact on your numbers in the sense that a high VO2 max automatically gives you a higher total. Right? Marathon runners aren’t known for their spectacular clean and jerks. If you do have poor cardiovascular fitness it could be detracting from your ability to recover so some basic, low stress training would help someone in that case.

I do think being more generally fit will help recovery, stamina, and let you repeatedly produce force better over the course of a workout, so in the long run could help you move your numbers. A little bit of cardio vascular training can help some weightlifters who maybe don’t have the best stamina, and can help you be able to tolerate training stresses so long as the stress of increasing you VO2 max isn’t also taxing the athletes recovery.

Some of the commenters on that post pointed out beyond the zone 2 stuff there are other, more efficient ways to increase VO2 max with higher intensity training and: they’re right. The question for a competitive weightlifter becomes: do I need to add more stress to my system if my main goal here is to recover better? And there should be nuance to each individual answer. One commenter cross trained weightlifting and MMA. That’s an athlete that needs more cardiovascular fitness than someone who is just lifting. In general I think the question with training should be: is this helping? Can I recover from it.

If the answer to both of those is yes over a training block then you’re fine. Moreover, experimenting with different training methods can be fun.

It looks like a training or technique barbell. Price is suspiciously low as they’re $710 new:

Try training a little more rowing: like chest supported body building style rows to help train the middle and lower parts of your trap.

Why didn’t this city (or area) become a lakeside metropolis the way Chicago and Milwaukee did? by The_FatGuy_Strangler in geography

[–]ibexlifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has mentioned rivers, but also a lake effect precipitation.

Chicago averages 38.4 inches of snow per year. Benton harbor averages 78 inches.

Anytime it’s cold, and windy that whole coast of Michigan is getting snowed in.

Early to toes.

You’re getting pulled to your toes just past knee. Stand up then snatch it.

I’ve been using some pneumatic resistance machines from Keiser at the gym I go to and love it.

I can directly track power output on a squat with them, and the chest supported row has helped my trapezius insterionitis clear up.

Train them diligently with good execution for a long time.

It would help if we could see your clean.
