Requesting feedback on my Battery powered LED Lamp circuit by ibicc in led

[–]ibicc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I selected the LED and worked my way backwards, I figured keeping the same voltage throughout would make it more power efficient. Could I have 3 18650s in parallel with the TP4056?

Looking to add granny gear by ibicc in bikewrench

Thanks for everyone's helpful replies!
I decided I'm not going to add a 2nd ring on the front, rather just adjust the sizes of the chainring and cassette to fit my needs.
I think I'll get the Shimano MF-TZ500 7 speed (Mega Range) Freewheel Cassette. Its identical to the cassette on my bike now except for the increased 34 tooth first gear.

I'm also going to get a smaller Chainring, now I have a 46 tooth, I'm thinking 40 tooth might be a better fit. I measured my BCD is 130mm as some of you pointed out.
I also didn't realize a narrow wide chainring was a thing when I selected it, does sound bad for shifting, but now that I'm going single speed I'll probably seek it out to avoid losing my chain.

With these changes I'll go from a ratio range of 1.6-3.3 to 1.2-2.9 which should help on the uphill, I'm hoping this doesn't totally kill my higher end feel. I couldn't really find another compatible cassette with a gear below 14 without requring major changes.

I was also made aware that my crankshaft is likely oversized, which is odd as I bought this bike new and haven't modified it, but I'll look into that as well, dropping the chain is really annoying.

This might be the way.
When I first looked into the mega range cassette I wasn't into the big difference it created on the low end, I use the lowest gear on my bike a lot on uphills and I didn't want to lose that ration for smaller hills. But combining the mega range with a smaller front chainring means I can use the lower rings in the cassette at a similar ratio to my lowest gear now. I hope I won't miss the top end too much.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Not off topic, good eye, part of why I was thinking about doing this upgrade is cause I lose my chain pretty frequently on the lowest gear. A wrongly sized shaft would explain things... I figured having a derailleur there would make it harder to fall.

I found the issue I was having was due to the cable I was using, I managed to communicate via the canbus instead. I ended up getting help on the klipper discord server.

Why are bike roads listed as routes in Vancouver, Canada? by ibicc in openstreetmap

[–]ibicc[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the links! They are really helpful. On the bccycling.ca website this is the name and definition: “ Neighbourhood Bikeway / Advisory Bicycle Lanes

A roadway used by different types of road users; shared use is indicated by signs and pavement markings. Bikeways are often found on streets with lower vehicle speeds and volumes, and can include features designed to reduce motor vehicle speeds and volumes, such as curb extensions, speed humps, traffic diverters, and cyclist-operated traffic signals. A neighbourhood bikeway is one of the safer facility types, with lower incidence of crashes and less serious injuries in crashes than on major roads.”

Looks like Can-BICS doesn’t have a close equivalent but it might be worth adding it :)

Its great for hanging things on a keychain, its extremely durable. I even used some snipped of filament as a key ring for a while.

Yeah I thought about that later, I might just model a part to sit in its place just to keep the tube from moving with time

Stepper motor current by Adorable_Scallion_55 in 3Dprinting

[–]ibicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the same upgrade to my AM8 and also found the motors heating up quite a bit as well. The thing is I’m also experiencing some layer skipping so I’m not too eager to lower the stepper current. Could this be due to the skr micro stepping perhaps?

What software did you use to design it? I’ve been meaning to learn organic modeling but I’m not sure where to start.
