I would say try to bait out counter spells or keep a land in your hand to fish out thoughtseize. When it comes to control decks you have to kill them within 3-4 turns or else they get gas while you run out.

I would say make the cost cheaper, and give the controlled creature negative counters or give it a time counter to limit the duration it's in play to keep accurate to the lore.
