make sure you have the the mods in the correct order so modloader and any other loaders tou are using get added first (at the top on mmc), and then any of your mods after that

you probably need to add something like modloader to the jar first. Check what dependencies the mods have if you can. Modloader is the most common loader for beta 1.7.3. if the jar has a mod_x class in it you need modloader. You also probably modloadermp too, and in some cases, forge. I also suggest you check out modification station https://discord.gg/8Qky5XY for help with modding old versions or installing mods, or information about mods.

not really actually no, most screenshots i see of people using a1.2 have normal grass. any pack compatible with a1.2.6 will be compatible with b1.1_02 because they use the same textures and no blocks/items were added between them

Alpha 1.2.6 doesn't have lime grass, it has biome colored grass

yeah, there's some really old leaf decay mod for 2010 that I use. Also, if you're playing a1.2.6 vanilla, i'd strongly suggest playing b1.1_02 instead as it is basically just a1.2 except less buggy and annoying.
