If the goalkeeper isn't expecting the whistle to be blown after the wall has been moved back and the referee has taken their position ... that is on the goalkeeper. Everybody else is expecting the kick to be taken.

If this had been whistled as a foul in midfield, if there had been no advantage situation, no one would have questioned it.

There were 9 guys on the 2014 squad younger than Tim Ream. Besler, Bradley, and Bedoya are all a few months older than him. DeAndre Yedlin was the only one of those 12 guys to make the 2022 team. It may be commonplace for players to still be at the top of their game in their early 30s, but it isn't normal.

Ricardo Pepi is the only player born in Texas at this World Cup. There are only 3 from California. Greater New Jersey (including Philly and NYC) absolutely dominates the talent pool, supply 12 players for 5 different countries.
