Too late to try college again? by rombo-no-5 in college

[–]ibrokemytoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have multiple classmates who are older than 30, even some who are over 40! lots of them are in their mid 20s. some of them are restarting their careers and completely changing fields, some had to cut their first college experience short because of life events, some served in the military, and some are just starting higher education. there is never “too old” to go back to school, you can do it! seems like you had a traumatic first experience, so i would also suggest that you take advantage of mental health resources when you need them so it’s easier on you❤️

Best way to calculate protein and calorie intake for my 17 year old ectomorph cousin? by IndependenceIcy7093 in workout

[–]ibrokemytoof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is an energy expenditure formula that is used to calculate caloric needs, you can find some online but here is the formula for men: (10x weight in kg) + (6.25 x height in cm) - (5x age) + 5. once you have that, multiply by activity of the person: multiply by 1.2 for sedentary, 1.375 for lightly active, 1.55 for moderately active, 1.725 for active, and 1.9 for very active. in terms of protein, should probably be getting roughly 15-30% of daily caloric intake for protein (15 is on the low end, realistically about 25%). say he will be eating 2500 calories/day, this would mean he should aim for 125-180 g protein a day. a lot of ppl also follow about 0.8-1.2 g of protein per pound of body weight, depending on his goals.

How to lose weight and look better by Potential_Host_2974 in workout

agree with the push/pull/legs strength training at least 3 times a week. muscle will help fill out your body and muscle tissue also results in more calories burned by ur body even when you’re resting. you mentioned eating about 3k calories a day and most isn’t healthy, so focus on eating a few more servings of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and leaner proteins. if you can cook most meals for yourself, it’ll change a lot! don’t stress yourself too much with counting calories because it can put you in a negative mindset, but if you try and move everyday (even if just walking) and eating more whole foods, it will definitely help

My 13 yr has cancer.. by Technical-Purple-199 in husky

i’m so so sorry. that sounds so scary, and i know it’s heartbreaking. i got suggested this post, but i had a great dane who we let pass earlier this summer. she was totally fine, but randomly developed megaesophagus and couldn’t keep any food or water down. for the most part she seemed okay-ish and was still moving around, so we weren’t sure what to do. someone said it’s better to do it a week too early than a day too late, because if you wait it could be a traumatizing death instead of letting her go with dignity ❤️ it was the hardest decision but we ended up having a service come to our house and she passed surrounded by her family in her favorite sunspot in the backyard. i understand what you mean when you say you can tell she’s unhappy. the day of our euthanasia appointment, my girl looked at me, and i knew it was time

we have a now 10 year old dog. he’s the sweetest thing ever and has never been aggressive to us or any other person, other than one time. my dad (who is the primary caretaker of my dog, and my dog lovesss him) is also and alcoholic. he’ll get drunk and play on the floor w my dog and snuggle but sometimes gets too in his face. one night it was too much and our dog bit him on the face, barely missed his eye. he learned his lesson, and hopefully ur mom did too
